The Berlin club

I didn't expect to find Germany

After exactly 20 years, I returned to the beautiful continent of Europe. A solo trip that was going to be a chance to enjoy my single life without the pressure of a corporate job. Two very unrelated things but very close to my heart. I preplanned my trip for almost 2 months while sitting in my office, I waited for the day I get on the plane and say farewell to my city. I booked a few hostels, a tour agent for a few places and made a bucket list of all the things I wanted to do that I never could before. It was strange for me, to be on my own, without a partner or a family member bossing me around. A breath of fresh air. I started my journey in Oslo, Norway and headed off to Stockholm right after. It was a breathtaking adventure, the men were so ‘pleasant; to the eyes and the tourists, spots were just mesmerising. I was in the Netherlands, that I met my travel crew, a bunch of wackos who quit their jobs like I did and were traveling. One of them suggested Berlin. It was a city known for its ‘openness’ and embracing art. For me, Berlin was all about World War II. After constant pressure, it was decided by the crew, I will be going to Berlin. Yet again, I was bossed around to do something out of my comfort zone but this time it was not regrettable. Arriving in Berlin, the first thing we did was trying to figure out where to stay. Unlike me, most of the crew don’t really plan their trips. Spontaneity was all we were doing and I was not sure if I was going to be happy being in Berlin. The trip started pretty rough, I initially lost my luggage which I was able to find 2 hours later. Then our accommodation personnel was not that friendly and it was just bringing the whole mood down. That same night, we met a German girl who suggested we check out KitKat, an infamous Berlin club.. but with barely any German speakers, that’s all we could get from here. 20 minutes later we stood outside the club. Thee line was so long that we knew this must be the right spot to be. No one prepares you for situations that come as a surprise. At the club, you first get a ‘security check’ where the bouncer decides if you are ‘worth’ to get in. A concept that was completely new to me. Right after that, it is straight to the cloakroom, which apparently is room to take offal your clothes. We handed in our phones at the reception and next thing I know, I was in my underwear at a club which was full of naked people. It was a strange sight to see, men and women prancing around naked with no care in the world. No one knew each other, and no one cared. As we further got in, I realised that this was no ordinary club, but a SEX CLUB. I quickly looked around and found couples openly having coitus and I was in utter shock. I didn't expect to find such a club anywhere in the world. Even though it was a new experience, I was not ready for this. Half of us headed back to our hotel while the rest enjoyed their magical night at the sex club in berlin. The strange thing is this experience, opened me up to more possibilities and now after 4 months, I call it my home
