When I was hiking the Camino del Norte towards Santiago de Compostella, it was not because I wanted to get closer to god, or to show some people how far I get, not about the scenery or the good wine they offer. I’ve met people. No that’s the wrong word. I met personalities, spirits, friends. But I found something bigger on my way. I found me. I found my inner higher being. I found my self-love. My body gave me warning signs, I came to my limit. Physically as well as psychologically. When you’re traveling alone, you’ve got the time to think about your life, you push yourself forward beyond the realm of your comfort zone. You start overthinking, you need to focus on your goals and you need to stay alive. Hard lessons taught me that this is the real meaning of traveling. Grow up, summon up all my courage, face my fears, rise above myself, educate myself, heal. Of course, I do travel because of the beautiful landscape, the vibrant cities, the amazing architecture, the colorful art. But traveling is not about how far you fly, how expensive the hotel is or about the the resort offers. It’s all about you master the lesson of living your life as its best and to the fullest. Strange, isn’t it?
