The end of the edge

A leap into the unknown Ecuador

An airplane, a seventeen years old girl and a dream. That’s how started. What can I say to this leap into the unknown? I spent one of the most intense weeks in my entire life in Ecuador, always wanted to go backpacking and I was able to “do it” at 17. Initially, I went to participate in a Bootcamp but then I decided to stay for longer since I have always been passionate about the country. I had the complete experience as a traveler, I booked a room in a hostel where a left my bags and I bought a bigger backpack and threw myself into the unknown… - Just imagine a seventeen-year-old girl in a different country from yours and alone - I was always very adventurous so one of the first things I did was to climb the Cotopaxi, the largest active volcano in the world and then I went down mountain biking, it was insane. I met people from all over the world including Brazilians (I don't know what happens but I always meet them around the world haha), during the Bootcamp I made a friend who lives in Ecuador and invited me to meet “La Basílica del Voto Nacional” with his family and recommend me a lot of things to do and eat before I leave the country - advantages of being friends with a native - and we had a lot of fun. My biggest interest in meet Ecuador was the park of “La Mitad del Mundo” and there I went, I met an indigenous tribe, I walked in the line "that separates the world" and finally balanced the egg it took longer than I imagined but I got it! I tried local foods, which are very cheap, they usually use the US dollar but there is the Ecuadorian that is worth the same thing in the country, I couldn't eat Cui (hamster) but I loved the ceviche, I even bought a poncho that I know I won't be able to use in Brazil - due to the heat - just to have a little piece of that wonderful place with me. I drank coca tea due to the altitude, which was a big problem for me at first as I was getting tired from walking five minutes. I visited the national museum, I practiced my Spanish and I did my best to live as a native, I went to the craft fair, I took a picture with a llama, I went down in a lagoon between volcanos, I created connections, I had great moments, incredible dinners with amazing people, I reflected on the intensity of life. I Just lived! I ain't got no words to explain this experience I'm not afraid of the unknown and I'm always taking a chance on it. In the end, what is the meaning of life if we continue in the sameness? Nobody knows how to explain what's at the end of the edge, so we need to create our edge.
