Most people are worried to traveling in the rain season. They might choose another season for their choices but there are some gorgeous things hiding from the rain. I have to come to Siam Reap with my Milano friend. I did not expect to come here. I just kept a promise to my friend. We arrived in Siam Reap at 6.30 pm. This time the darkness started to replace the sun and the rain shows up for welcoming. This city was quite a stinking smell. Full of dust and all along the street were muck. It’s looking like we back to previous times. For that moment I talked to myself “what I am doing here” and I want to cry while I was on tuk tuk going to the hostel. The owner of the hostel welcomes us very well. They have 7 year old cute sons that speak English very well. He tried to help his parent explain us how to stay here. I’m so impressed and felt better about here. Then we went to the night market for having dinner. At one of street food shop such a family business. They made a great food for us with a friendly price. The owner sat with us and had a conversation about lovely history between Thailand and Cambodia. Even if our government has a bit some conflict, but that did not break our relationship for all of us. We laugh a lot while we are sharing our stories. It’s made me feel like home with a warm welcome. The next day we bike passed the local village.people here lived a very simple life. We met one local guy. He says hello to us. We stopped and had a conversation with him. He told us about the history of Cambodia, the traveling places, but the interesting topic was he wanted to cooperate with people around to make a clean water work for this village and if it’s possible he want to do the same thing for another village as well. He said if he waits for the government, he don’t know when is going to happen. The second thing he will plant a tree and flowers on both sides this street. He wants visitors get fresh air and happy when they come here. Oh my god! They need just a simple life. They need less, but it’s more. Then we were continuous bilked. Street, surrounded by the forest. Look like a jungle book. We stopped to have a break. A wonderful spot that we were taking a break, have a big creeping plant and down there was a small river with beautiful music from the birds lulling for us. We had lotus seed for our lunch that’s we bought from the local. At the main time two lady local met us and they thought that we got lost. They are trying to help we got out of here and go to the right way to get on the main road to the national park. They ride motorcycles to navigate us. That’s so sweet. Since that‘s day our time wasn’t enough for traveling at the national park. We need to come back the day after. The way back to the hotel we bought a great salad, bread roll to save our hunger. Suddenly the rain came out. We both ran opposite side to dodge the rain under the tree. The security guy in front of the hotel waves his hand to let us come to his big umbrella. He sacrificed his chair for us. From now I falling in love with Siam Reap. Another day was a big day for Angkor world heritage. For all the beautiful archeological site in Siam Reap made us realized how strong and wealth of an ancient empire. However, if we did not come here on the rainy season. Firstly, we might not see splendid an ancient kingdom embraced by green nature that can refreshing when we back to our memories. Secondly the low season gave us a friendly price of accommodation and food. Lastly sometime the barriers will bring us to meet lovely people to blow our heart forever. Thanks the rain for all of these.
