August 3rd 2014 was one of the memorable days of my incredible lifetime. It was the day my brother and i got to realise there was more to see and experience than we already knew. My brother and i decided during our summer break, we will embark on a journey to a place far from home. We want to experience something new, and travelling to an unknown place seem to be the best idea to us at that time. The morning of August 3rd wasn't so friendly due to bad weather condition but my brother and i were so determined to carry out our plan. At about half past 10 in the morning, we got to a town where we realised everything was unusaul and bizarre. The buildings looked old, and most with rusted corrugated iron_roofing sheets, the men walked about bare chested with a cloth tied around their waist, the ladies likewise, with thier breast bare, without no shame or remorse, they walked about carrying big bowls and seemed to be happy. My brother and i watched them in awe not knowing whether to approach them or remain in the car. After a few minutes, two barefooted little children ran towards our car and then they stretched out thier hands to us. It is obvious they were begging and that they needed some money for food. What marveled me was that, they didn't seem to understand us when we spoke to them. My brother gave them the little sandwich we had remaining and then they held our hands and led us out of the car. It was obvious they liked us and we were also amazed and dismayed at the same time. The kids led us to meet their mom who somewhat seem to know how to speak a little bit of English. She welcomed us and offered us some water. The water was unclean but in order not to show any form of disrespect, we decided to take a sip. The look on my brother's face wasn't encouraging at all. The woman then took us to a place where we met more of them. The people present there were happy to see us. They performed some traditional dances and offered us some fruits after the performance. It was their sign of welcome. I, in particular was so amazed since i never expected something of that sort. After the dance, the people nominated two people in addition to the woman we met to accompany us to a place we actually had no idea we were going to. In few minutes time, we were at the front of a big cave and in front was a wonderfully designed artifact of a man holding a lamp and beside it was this huge fountain and a garden. So beautiful that we had never seen since we were born. It was like though we were dreaming. We couldn't believe our eyes. We were then taken into a cave where we were shown and told of the great history of their past. They were the people of the 'Kabiawe' tribe, a long_forgotten tribe in the southern part of Ghana. We only read about them in books, but we never knew they actually existed. They seem to be the opposite of what we actually knew of them(Wicked and fearful). After the short tour in the cave, we were made to dress like them, though we were shy at first. I just couldn't imagine how funny i looked bare_chested with a cloth tired around my waist. It was a nice experience. We were actually having the best time of our lives. It looked like they wanted us to stay a little bit longer, but we had to go. They gave use some beads, clothes and some other artifact and requested that we come back later. They paved us good_bye and we took our leave. As soon as we got home, i couldn't believe what my brother and i just experienced. I didn't know whether to inform our parents or lie since we had to tell them where we went all day. But in all, it was a fantastic day that wil go down into memory lane.
