As many expectations are anticipated for 2020. My friends and I decided to kick start the year with a trip across Brezina in the beautiful green and white nation of Algeria. We arrived at our first destination after spending 7 hours on the road. I struggled to catch a sleep throughout the freezing night, because of my eagerness to explore the next morning. The barrage of Brezina was our first destination. We trekked to a beautiful dam in the middle of nowhere. Its surrounding was so charming. From left to right, you could feel the mixture of brown, green and blue reflections that comes with the sunshine. I could feel like standing on a rainbow. After balancing between the view and the thoughts, we decided to change our destination. I must say that going from a destination to another was already a trip by itself! You could see the incredible link between the road and the sky with different sculptures in the middle. I could not take my eyes off the natural serene as we traveled to our next destination. We met our guide and decided to continue our journey right after taking lunch. After driving a while towards our destination, we had to park and continue on foot because the road was inaccessible via vehicle. We took it as a hiking opportunity and enjoyed every cut in and out moment on the desert and mountain ranges. Little did we think that a legend was waiting for us. Upon reaching the top of one of the sand and rock mountains, Chewki (our guide) showed us a castle that has a lot of history behind it. We leaned a strong and beautiful princess was living with her tribe in that castle, and the most exciting part is that she remained well known because of her intelligence and wisdom during one of the battles. I got more curious to enter that castle, expecting an old and forgotten place. Nevertheless, to my big surprise, the houses were in a perfect state! You can easily imagine the history of the place and the lifestyle the citizens used to have. I visited one house after the other, and each one was different from the other in sizes or shapes. There was even a fireplace in each corner, but I believe it was more for cooking then just chilling, and beautifully it was still in good shape! The way it was built attracted the intention of my architect friend, who explained that the walls and the village, in general, were built only with sand and water! Can you believe that with only those 2 components, a whole place remained in good shape for more than ten decades! Besides that, some places had even a natural cold place to rest when it’s too hot outside. Everything was simple and natural and yet powerful. As a fantastic way to end up our journey, we decided to visit El Gour which was not far from Bent-El-Khass’s castle. Again inside our vehicles, we were excited to continue our exploration and talked about the fantastic stories and images we were getting only from one trip. From a distance, you can see the incredible mountains we heard about in El Gour, and you feel amazed while still being 5km away. In an instance, you feel like time stopped, your breathing is going in and out, and your heart is beating so fast just by looking at the place. From what I know, those are signs of love and indeed, I fell in love with El-Gour. At first glance, you could see towering mountains with specific angles as if they were created with a ruler and painted with the best brown. As soon as we parked, we run to the top of one of the sandy mountains to witness the sunrise of Brezina. Once up there, you find a flat and large ground ready to welcome all the sunset and sunrise fans. We decided to search for the best angle where to get the best sunrise, but since all the angles were perfectly settled, each one of us chose a corner that suits his soul.
