The magic of Barselona

A leap into the unknown Spain

I have been daydreaming about going to Barselona ever since I've seen a couple of photos that I came across the internet. I thought to myswlf "I got to see this in person" and so I did. I packed a bag and flew to Barselona last summer. The flight was exciting, considering i havent flew by airplane since few years ago, but the sound of flight attendance speking in spanish made me feel even more inpatient about coming there. As I arrived at the airport i got in a cab, which was not hard to get at all, and I headed to my hostel. Since It was about 4 in the morning i couldn't chek in, so I decided to explore a little, even the rain didn't bother me, although I was wondering if it was gonna ruin my trip. I walked and walked, trying to enjoy the beautiful old buildings I came across on my mission to find a caffe. I guess I could say it was successful considering it was pretty dark, yet they seem to stand out even at that time of the day. The streets were quiet and empty, because nothing starts to open untill 9-10 o'clock in the morning and shuts down about 22-23 o'clock, which i got to learn on my trip in next few days. I found a nice caffe near the Cathedral Sagrada Familia, the coffee was decent, but the churos I had were mind-blowing, best thing I ever had. Any food I had there was amazing and I went to different restaurant every day. The price difference wasn't very big, it was very affordable and absolutely worthy of every cent. Next few days I tried to see as many places I could. The nature and landscape in Barselona is breath taking. Beautiful trees and palms everywhere you go and it perfectly compliments the concrete jungle that is in the city. I went to the park Guell. For nature and art lovers this is the perfect spot. I would recommend going to any of Gaudi hauses, because the experience is unexplainable, it was unreal, something I'd never forget. If you love to shop, La rambla, the main street is a place for you,but if you want to experience Barcelona fully I'd say to go to the Bouqueria Market as well, I promise you won't regret it. The thing that suprised me the most was how friendly everyone is. People were extremely kind and wanted to help with instructions, even though many of them don't speak English, but we managed to understand each other somehow every time. The thing that I was really glad I did was applying for the street tour. Local guy from Barcelona organizes tours every day or so, and he guided us through small streets and rough neighborhoods that you wouldn't ever go to by yourself, while showing us and educating us about the graffiti and art that is most likely to find everywhere around Barcelona and telling us stories behind them. My hostel was nice, affordable and clean. I was 5-10 min walk away from the main street and staff at the hostel went to extreme and beyond to welcome me, help me and make my stay feel comfortable. I stayed at Guest house center inn. I really liked that everything was really close, I walked to every location, but for people who prefer the Bus, the stations are everywhere, visible, and the bus ticket is cheap, also, the bus comes frequently and on time. Night life isn't very active there. There are a few places that work until the early morning hours, but to be honest I wasn't much interested in them on this trip. Maybe next time I will explore that side of Barcelona, but surely, I plan to come back. All together, if planed ahead, the trip cant ever disappoint you. And if you combine that with listening to some of the local guide sites advice for the city, your heart will have Barcelona written all over it. You will be in love at the end of the first day, maybe even after couple of hours if you're one of those romantic souls.
