My name is Julius Kwasi Quansah Yankson. I love to be called “Aberantie” which means a gentleman in the local Ghanaian language. I love people . In fact I love everything about humanity. I love to connect with local and indigenous people in a particular society . I have a beautiful travel story I would love to share with you . It’s indeed one of my beautiful experience so far as a travel blogger. I’m a Ghanaian staying in Accra , Ghana. Ghanaians are said to be beautiful people with love for humanity. Ghana is peaceful. The people love each other . The local Ghanaian dishes taste great , you need to try some when you travel to Ghana some day . In my quest to connect with the local people, I had a trip to one of the local communities in Ghana called Jamestown. It’s also called British Accra , reason being that , the British settled there many years ago before colonizing the people of Ghana which was known as Gold Coast by then. Interestingly , there are a lot of building at Jamestown which clearly confirms that the British once lived there. If you want to feel what I’m saying , just picture a typical old community in England. Yes ! Now that you get me clearly, try and take a moment to see if you can picture the kind of Jamestown community in Accra Ghana. Currently Jamestown vicinity is largely occupied by an Ethnic group called the Ga. The people are so beautiful. There’s so much unity amongst them . And oh I tasted their popular food called Kenkey . It’s eaten with hot pepper with fish . Infact , if you go to Jamestown without tasting kenkey and hot pepper with fish then trust me , you need to go back . Sounds funny right ? Also one exciting thing I found about Jamestown is that , almost every young guy is a boxer. Right from their infancy , they learn this particular sport. Truly , Jamestown is known for producing Top class boxers in Ghana who are known for their achievements on the international boxing front . Talking of the popular landmarks in the Jamestown vicinity, you’ll come across the usher fort and James fort which was used to the keep slaves in the during slave trade. The vicinity also has the first photo studio in Ghana located in the heart of it . This photo studio is called “ Duo Gratias Studio” which dates back to 1902 since it was established. There’s also a lighthouse which opposite the Duo Gratias Studio . Now there’s a comic relief! You can never talk about Jamestown without acknowledging the fact that it’s fishing community and that’s their number one trade is the fishing business. I hope you’ve followed my journey enough to have an abstract view of Jamestown. When you come to Ghana , visit Jamestown and when they ask you who told you about them don’t forget to mention my name. ~JULIUS KWASI QUANSAH YANKSON
