A leap into the unknown Colombia

It is notorious that travel changes the way we look at the world, because we have different cultures, races, beliefs and backgrounds. Before making the first trip abroad, it is not possible to have this vision. According to the phrase "In my opinion there are two types of travelers: those who travel to flee and those who travel to seek." by (Érico Veríssimo) one of the most popular Brazilian writers of the 20th century, it is treated as two types of travelers those who flee their reality from those who seek, learn and seek new ideas and concepts. Colombia, February 2nd, 2019, this date was marked by my arrival in the unknown, until the present moment I had only a superficial vision of the world, where globalization was not seen in practice, but in a utopic concept in my reality. By living this voluntary experience, I had the opportunity to experience the reality of local low income families. I shared with people where I observed the sparkles in the eyes of people who want to change the world, starting with small actions. In one of the visits, we passed in the city of Mardelin, it was possible to experience the local people, visit bars and parties. Climb 600 steps on the stone known as Peñón de Guatapé, where it is possible to observe a beautiful learning from its top, walk on cable cars over the city and have a wonderful view. But there was tuor that caught my attention and it was possible to take some reflections and it marked me a lot was the community where Pablo Escobar lived, we climbed the famous escalators of the favela, we observed beautiful drawings of walls, the art present in musical groups, dance, rhymes and we learned about the difficult time of the narcotrafic, where it was possible to understand diverse cultural facts practiced in an inrational way by the people, such factors are part of the culture marked until today, alluding to Germany after the first world war. It was possible to learn and understand in this experience, that globalization is only a term used to define the effects caused by the false illusion of a closer world, but it is only possible to feel the pain and understand the culture when we experience, understand and learn about the culture and its marks of the past. The union and the fight against the marks caused by the past is the factor that will change our future and thus achieve peace.
