The year is 2007, mid- high school, it finally dawns on me, after countless career changes and aspirations, Flight attendant, well first choice would have been Pilot but after a careful consideration that being a pilot would come with the responsibility of carrying so many lives, literally on my sleeves and less interaction with people, being a flight attendant took to first place and it was heavenly. I think the nicest thing life could ever offer us is learning our passion at a younger age because then the passion grows on us and by the time we get to live the dream, everyday is a dream. Right back to the dream, and reality of it, i am a sibling of three and from a family surviving on a single income of our dad and endless time from my dear stay at home mom. Fast forward to life after high school, by now my parents cannot stand to even see a plane on TV because they are going to hear all about how i will enjoy serving people up there, now all the dreams i talked about are about to commence and my life is falling into place, my thought. I have applied and gotten accepted into a cabin crew school, even traveled 410 km from my country to where the school was for a tour and further clarifications only for my parents to tell me they cannot afford to pay for me, worst Pain of my life. 2016, after disappointments, depression, doing a carrier i hated, i finally received an opportunity to travel to Japan Tokyo to babysit,The universe KNEW my dream. I would like you to understand that with my love for planes, i had never been close to a real one, you think that is weird? i had never even been or seen a sea/ ocean EVER in my life and now i was about to travel for a thousand over oceans.I remember sitting in an airport for the very first time in my life and thinking, Lord if ever i die, please let it be after i have been a flight attendant, i owe that to my self. The way the pull their luggage, how they walk with utmost poise and look absolutely polished after working the longest hours, how they let out the warmest smile that just makes instantly trust them, i think flight attendants are secretly angels. I think for the whole 21 hours trip, i was out of my skin like a kid in a candy store just basking into my dream, and oh it felt great.I come from a country with 2 Million population, no, not the town i come from, the whole country so Tokyo for me was a sci-Fi' movie. Foreign language, large population, big city, trains, so much to figure out, fashion, food and more fashion, is this even real?I stayed in Tokyo for a full 8 months, no before you even ask, i CANNOT speak Japanese, but i can tell you this, The Japanese people are the most kind, welcoming, warm people i know, the fashionable and technology part is common knowledge. What however i do not read about often which i found so special and will always applaud is their discipline and lowest crime rate. The discipline can be seen in the way they cue up at the train stations, stairways and elevators. I hope you allow me,one day to talk about their club and entertainment scene, shopping deals, savings and my personal favorite being thrifting, that was the highlight of my stay and the downfall of my hard earned money, but i do not regret it, i would do it all over again. I am still saving up to become a flight attendant one day soon, so until next time, remember the name Looby Grace as a Flight attendant, Travel writer, Blogger and a shopaholic, maybe i should throw a Japanese citizen into the mix as well, i have a feeling the universe is working on making my dreams are reality these days. Would i recommend Tokyo for a holiday destination? I am willing to bet our 2 million population that you will have a time of your LIFE .
