A leap into the unknown Brazil

Traveling is one of the best experiences that humans can have in life, specially when there are possibilities to meet different people and learn about other cultures and lifestyles.I had some such good trips in my life, but I have a real and deep affection for the only one that made me leap into the unknown. It was 2017 summer, so I and my friends Brian, Lívia and Natália decided to travel to Búzios, a coastal city in our state , we looked for the best prices for bus tickets and hostel daily rates. It took us 3 hours to arrive in Búzios, we chose to stay in a shared room for being the cheapest option and when we entered the room we saw a tequila bottle on the floor and 3 men laughing out loud, they greeted us in some weak Portuguese, it was easy to identify that they were not Brazilians by the Spanish accent. As we were a little bit tired, we did not go out that day and stayed at the hostel all day long, both the groups tried to speak and get to know each other.Although we did not speak the same language we succeeded thanks to the Latin roots that Spanish and Portuguese have, they are very similar languages, thus it was not hard at all to understand each other, we found out they were from Mexico and that they were single, we talked all evening long about how our lives are. During our 10-day stay in Búzios, we went to the beaches and touristic places with them, we talked a lot about our countries' cultures and differences, they taught us some Spanish and we taught them some Portuguese, we really got deep into our cultures. At the hostel we had an available kitchen to cook anything we wanted, we made them some Brazilian food and they made us some burritos and guacamole, the most amazing part for me was when they told us about the party they celebrate the dead people's day "Dia de los muertos", the importance, beauty and happiness how they described the party made me really wish to experience the party one day and I still intend to do it. We returned home after 10 days full of experiences and knowledge exchanges. We all still have social media contacts and chat sometimes. I could not imagine that a trip with friends would provide me this much experience, I really leaped into the unknown by knowing a so beautiful and different culture even though I was in my state and that's why traveling is beyond fun, it is also growth, mind opening, knowledge acquisition and above all, human being development.
