Swallowed alive by the glistening dancing lights of the city of New York. Beneath the high rise buildings, and underneath the cosmetic promises of more luxurious views are those unknown. Dating back as far as time itself; those working faces of zip codes that are far more parallel than symmetrical to the places of which they themselves call home. Day in and day out New York City residents board trains to get them to a city that prefers the loyalty of those outsiders versus those born within. From all five boroughs traveling to the money that fuels households along with supplementary help from the government to ease the burden of empty cupboards. Pace yourself on the world wind adventure of spending for leisure while they question the purpose of a $250 dollar rattle from Tiffany’s for a child that will likely have no recollection of such a purchase. As you watch the worker lowered into the pale blue signature Tiffany’s bag, you’d act as if that purchase was keeping lights on for a woman on her final notice from ConEd; it will not she will go home with the with a lessen time for the payment minimum. Also in that vicinity sits a homeless man; he too trying to make a living but you look on as if he threatens to tarnish the cities imagery. The imagery that just might be a man down on his luck as suppose to someone too lazy to work a normal job for his pay as did the tourist to get here. New York City infamous for its sleepless nights and constant on the go lifestyle, simplifies to that of people trying to make ends meet. Stretch from one check to another in hopes that they’ll be able to ride a bus within their own boroughs and actually be able to afford it instead of hopping the back of the bus yet again. Although these are hypothetical situations New York City exist on the labor of those who will likely never buy an American girl doll for a daughter who cries at night because her mom must clean offices. This story is a dedication for all the people living in the city of dreams yet still dreaming of a better life. To the unknown
