We met at Paddys - the highest irish bar in the world - for a few beers and ideas. This Half french, half Danish guy was either going to be my competition or possibly my business partner. His name is Dan, he's a damn good photographer and had the same idea. Open up a photography expeditions company in Peru. A country with 83 different micro-climates has all the ingredients for photographic opportunities and - diversity of product! we where not mistaken as you'll find soon. We got to know each other and drink quite a bit/lot... By the end of the night we where brainstorming what would be the name of the company and we had decided to stay in Peru and start a photography business. This was no longer just my idea! And it was happening. It was July of 2017. Andean Photo Expeditions was the final decision. We knew we wanted to develop our work east and west of the Andes. This mountain chain separates the mountains with the Amazon jungle and these where exactly the areas we first wanted to explore. Both of us where real strong believers in showing a different side of Peru to our costumers. Aside from the classics Machu Picchu, rainbow mountain, inca trail etc, Peru and the Andes mountains have much more to offer! Starting this company was a challenge and the time invested is and was no joke, but it was definitely all worth it. It is 2020 now and we’ve conquered some very nice trophies : Established partnerships with off-the-beaten-path communities in the Amazon and the Andes Mountains Created a unique service where client and photography come first Partnered with some of the best hotels & lodges throughout Peru Published twice in National Geographic Magazine Published on the Lonely Planet 2019 Peru Guide book given certificate of excellence (5 stars) on Tripadvisor All of these make us extremely proud, but we know we can grow and we want more. For this year, we are trying to develop new tours and focus more on the Amazon Jungle. This location is dying a slow death and if we can somehow get involved and bring hope to the local indigenous tribes as well as protect this sacred place in the world - we will for sure do our best. March 2020 will bring a lot of scouting and praying for sucess. A photography tour depends on a lot of factors. Safety, photographic opportunity, diversity of the product, financial viability... All of these need to be rowing in the same direction or the boat will simply sink. Stay put for the next chapter of Andean. March will be dedicated to the amazon jungle.
