Underwater Bahamas

Making a local connection Bahamas

I envision finding several local free-divers and exploring and using videography to capture the underwater world in the Bahamas. This project will tell the stories of the marine life that surrounds the islands within the Bahamas, hidden treasures, statues and sunken ships in the surrounding areas, how the reef and marine life has changed over the past decade, what life is like being able to explore the underwater world in the Bahamas, and turn it into a beautiful story of the exploration and freedom that these free-divers feel living in the Bahamas. I would conduct interviews with the free-divers and do a full blown documentary style film discussing the incredible lifestyle these free-divers have, their encounters with marine life, knowledge they have about the marine life, and more. I'd capture close up shots of the free-divers with marine life, the marine life itself, intricate shots of anything that makes the Bahamas unique, and create an educational film. I know this is a travel writing scholarship, and I would be happy to write a piece on this experience and life in the Bahamas. Ultimately I'm a visual story-teller and would focus on filming the interviews and getting everything documented with videography before conducting a writing piece.
