I'm sure that many people in the world don't know which country is called ''Togo'' in west Africa. Togo is a little beautiful country between Ghana and Benin and which is on the coast so you have an awsome beach in the south of the country. The locality I'm going to talk about is ''Défalé''. This city is in the north of the country and is surrounded by mountains. The journey from the country's capital (Lomé) to Défalé takes around 9 hours by car. The town of Défalé is just amazing!!! The climate, the view, the mountains ... The locals are very welcoming and always welcome their guests with a local drink called '' Tchoukoutchou ''. It is an alcoholic drink made from fermented millet. Therefore, should be consumed in moderation. For the stay, we opted for the Défalé's hostel for the calm that reigns there, its geographical location (quite isolated and surrounded by nature) and for the modernity of the place. The architecture of the hotel is just beautiful and the staff are very courteous and professional. They offer fairly classic meals but also local specialties. the chicken "Dzinkoumé" must absolutely be part of your "to eat list" !!! (laugh...) Dzinkoumé is a dough made from corn flour that can be cooked with chicken cooking broth, which is either grilled, fried or roasted, all accompanied by spicy sauces. What a delight!!! Defalé also abounds in numerous tourist sites like the caves of Défalé, the monument of Christ of Défalé that we have had the opportunity to visit. The monument is located at an altitude and the specially designed path to access it is around 17-18 km ... The safest way is to walk. Although tiring (very tiring), you can fully enjoy the view from the heights. But it is possible to do part of the journey by car or motorbike provided you are or have a very good driver. The Christ of Defalé is an identical reproduction of the status of Christ the Redeemer in Brazil. Even if the path to get there is difficult and very tiring, the game is worth the effort. In short, Défalé is one of the most beautiful cities located in the north of Togo. The climate is mild and the view is very beautiful. The Défalé hotel will welcome you in the best way and the local population will make you live great times. And if you have some free time, you can go and visit Kara, another little wonder located an hour's drive from Défalé.
