West Bank Ice Cream

A leap into the unknown Palestine

I’m not suggesting you go into/through the West Bank with an Israeli stamp in your passport however if you are ever in the neighbourhood, and can get around Israeli security, West Bank ice cream is worth the trip. The ice cream is stretchy, like melted cheese. Mix ice cream with the not so distant war sounds, it becomes a pretty weird experience pretty quick. Ramallah itself is an intense place but it’s as though the locals know you aren’t supposed to be there, smile and then pretend they never saw you. Also, allow yourself extra time to get around the cities roundabouts. Instead of following the generally agreed upon right of way roundabout rules, Palestinians throw that all out the window and what should take eight seconds, takes eight minutes because they all drive into the middle at the same time, get stuck and then spend the next five minutes honking at each other to get out of the way.
