in September 2018, I went to Iran. It was my first trip abroad ever! My mother, my sister, my two cousins and I were on the same Plane off to the country. At 10 PM, We reached the city of Mashhad where we supposed to stay for five days. We went directly to the Hotel which was located in Tabarsi street where it is one kilometer far from the Imam Reza shrine. After taking a small nap in our room, we headed to visit the shrine of Imam Ali Reza (the eighth Shia Imam) and it was about 2 PM at midnight. The city was full of pilgrims, tourists, and visitors from all over the world! All in all, we completed the traditional and known things that Shia does when they enter such a holy place, like say prayers and Dua. Then we came back to our hotel. The next morning, our guide took us on a trip around the city. We went north to see some historical places and Islamic ones. He was the only one who could speak both Farsi and Arabic! So we have to count on him in everything. Because Iranian people speak only Farsi! And we Arabs speak only Arabic. In addition, Iranian people do not speak English and they do not even could understand a word! That means we have to stay with our tourist guide all the time but it does not work like that because of different reasons such as go shopping, go horse riding, go sightseeing and so on. After completing the tour visit to the north of the city, we headed off again to the hotel. On the third day, we went to the Bazar alone. We walked through such traditional shops and malls but they were all amazing. The prices were very cheap and the quality was very good. My mom bought so many t-shirts, shoes, handbags, and jeans. While I brought all that stuff with me and felt guilty like I have missed a lot on this trip because I could not buy lots of things! And the reason is that I have brought three bags with me filled with clothes and personal stuff, What a loss! However, we spent a good time there! The Bazar was different and people were friendly too. Two hours later, we finished shopping and it was time to leave. We stopped a taxi and I gave him the hotel card which has two sides, on the first side was the address of the hotel while on the other side was the address of the card printer. Instead of taking us to our hotel, he took us to the wrong address. When he was driving the car, he skipped the right street. It was Friday and it was very crowded because of Friday prayers which are known as “Salah Al-Jumah”. We stuck in the Traffic Jam for two hours and we could not communicate with him. Because we do not speak Farsi as well as he does not speak Arabic. And we have to reach the hotel as soon as possible or we will miss the plane. One hour later, we got bored and we cannot hold on anymore! My mom blamed me and my cousin started to complain about it too. What do we have to do? “my sister said” just give me some time to think “I replied”. After a sudden, I shouted loudly ‘google Translate’ is the key. Surely they do not have any idea of what I am talking about! I typed what I want to say to the driver in English and it automatically appeared in Farsi. I told him that he was in the wrong way and he has to come back to the previous one. Because he read the wrong side of the card and the right one is the first side of it where the correct address of the hotel is! He got it. And he went back to the beginning of the road. What a Dilemma! Finally, we reached the hotel and our group was about to leave. What luck!
