What is untold?

I didn't expect to find Italy

My Mom has always been telling me: "You are not for these little things Kiddo". These words flattered me, but I've never thought that actually I would be brave enough to leave everything behind and start my adolescence period thousands of kilometers away from the warmth of my home. However, time flies, people change, and I'm gone on my journey to the one of the most visited countries of Europe, the one that holds the unrevealed secrets of Roman empire, the queen of European History- Venice. These embellishments that many magazines, websites, books and Tv-documentaries attribute to Venice, for a long time made me sick. The only thing I could think of was, no more parties, millions of tourists, and short Italian guys. Yeah, nightmare for a 1.80m girl like me... I would never say that this year would change my life....However, like Justin Bieber would say- "Never say never" I've always dreamed of dramatic change, African adventure, Costa Rican nights, Taiwan beaches and Parisian museums ...and never could imagine that this excitement was just in front of me... Let me introduce you to the Venetian lagoon, uncountable number of small islands, city on the water, Italian pasta, and way too much Spritz and Prosecco. As I've started walking through Venetian maze with my mind wide open, I started noticing very Interesting things. The rainbow colored houses in Venetian island Burano are the dream for Instagramers nowadays, and back then were inspiration to many artists who replicated these beautiful greens and purples into abstract paintings. The beautiful canals in Venice are breathtaking but also not very good navigation system. Yeah, it's impossible to know every corner of Venice, even native Venetians sometimes get lost. Isn't it exciting? That I wake up here every morning and come home every night through different path? Even google maps can't analyze Venice.. Not only main touristic landmarks such as The church of San Marks, the Basilica Santa Maria Della Salute carry the beauty of Venice and hold its Tradition. The small orthodox church in San Giorgio is so underrated but equally breath taking.. Among hundreds of islands Lido, you can drive a car only on Lido, which is a dream during summer. The offshore bars surrounded by palms and beautiful sand beach… This is the place where Venetians crave to be each day of the summer, it is their safe space. Imagine being surrounded by water 365 days of the week, standing in the middle of the lagoon, on one of the countless islands but you can swim on only one? It Is a challenge man. Your mindset should be prepared to this if you’re planing on staying longer in Venice. Learn from my mistakes.. On top of these beautiful little things that tour guides don’t talk about, I think it is necessary to say a few things about the Italian cuisine. It is strongly connected to the Venetian lifestyle- very chill, experimental, a combination of ordinary and extraordinary. For instance, We all know that Italians eat pasta, but we’re introduced to only a few mainstream pasta dishes such as Bolognese and Carbonara. But In reality, a very few Venetians eat these pastas on daily basis, they eat numerous versions of pastas, with seafood, with honey, with chicken meat… Not everything is what it seems to be in Venice. I’m moreover admitting and publicly saying that I was wrong. Venice is far more than a few Landmarks. Every little corner holds its own story, and that is what makes Venice unique, special and equally comparable to the greenness of Bali, beaches of Taiwan, or wilderness of Costa Rica. Venice is all in one.. Venice is the one. Venice is..
