What nature can offer?

A leap into the unknown Kenya

i didn't know what to expect. i was excited as many questions criss crossed my mind. i had heard about Maasai Mara National game reserve and as i sat in omfy middle-class teenage home a seared belief came into my mind that there was excitement out in the world. i couldn't wait any longer for the day to come to pass. i was in junior high school and the school had organised a trip to Maasai Mara game reserve, one of the most adored and exciting places to visit on the earth due to the migration of wildebeests from Serengeti national park to Masai Mara national park. i woke up before the chirping of birds. in fact the day before i couldn't get sleep. i was so excited that i almost slept as i was taking a nap waiting for the bus to pick us up. sweet aroma and scents smoked the air as my friends and classmates had dressed up in the newly ironed uniforms that only awaited for trips. immediately after breakfast, the journey began to the land of the unknown for those of us who had never stepped out of the countryside and urban life. In the bus stories smote the air as Jones took pictures and landmarks as i took the GPS locations to make memories of the visit. After the bus gabbling several kilometers and taking hours we came to bush area with no traffic, no hooting of vehicles but with chirping of birds, roaring of lions and laughing of hyenas. i knew that the awaited trip was approaching and all of us were looking through to glance after a wild animal. The bus came to a halt and a bearded game warden was introduced. we couldn't hide our excitement as we were ushered to the park. Although our stomachs were craving for food, there was a feeling of calmness, gratitude, peace and nature. I wondered why it was called a park as i had seen documentaries of lions, cheetahs chasing herds of other animals such as buffaloes. I thought something was amiss but in split seconds, a gazelle passed in a whirlwind speed. I thought it was Kipchoge only to see a lion, Sekakama the king of the jungle chasing. It was an interesting experience but again it turned into sadness and sorrow as the lion couldn't keep up with the pace. Seconds later, hyper sonic speeds of a cheetah after an antelope. i had thought it was a blackbird Sr71 fighter jet at mach two. I knew that life in the jungle was only for the strong, tender hearted to survive as weaker species gave up and accepted ferocious and aggressive deaths. Before evening could approach as the sun was setting towards the western horizon, we met a bunch of Masai tribesmen who were hunting game meat. They entertained us by jumping close to two meters which was a challenge and motivation to us as We sat on the rocks and stared at them in awe. What an amazing experience. we departed for the next place but this one made my adventure to be awesome and interesting from learning cultures to enjoying to what nature can offer and appreciate how to conserve the environment.
