It was January of 2020 when on the New Year's , I decided to quit my Corporate Job and travel full-time. I used to be an Event Manager but that Job was not something meant for me because I felt like a bird trapped in a cage, a 3 by 3 cubicle where I used to spend most of my day at. So I quit! After quitting, smiling I reached my home and shared this news with my family. Obviously, they didn't take it well and they started yelling at me for quitting such a job at a reputed company. Distressed, I packed my bags and left for a little town in the foothills of Himalayas called Rishikesh. I didn't know what I was gonna do or how I'm about to build a career out of traveling but somewhere in my heart I knew, that if not today, I'll always be trapped in this cage. I took a fairly simple overnight bus from Jaipur (Rajasthan) to Rishikesh (Uttarakhand). The bus was beautiful with mostly Himalayan villagers boarding it so it was fun to see and talk to them about their culture. I reached Rishikesh early in the morning around 5:30 AM and what I witnessed brought tears to my eyes. It was a Sunrise over the peaks of Rishikesh with sun slowly looming in to cover these peaks in a bright blanket of sunshine. I had never seen anything like that in my life so I decided to enjoy the moment before its gone. I took a cup of tea from a local shop and sat near the Laxman Jhula (suspension bridge) to fully absorb this moment of great beauty. I learnt a beautiful thing while watching this sunrise that was "no matter how dark the darkness is in your life, when the sun will shine, it will brighten up everything". This gave me a little hope to continue with my decision of travel writing and not working 9 to 5 trapped in a cage. Beneath me was the Holy River Ganges flowing in its own pace with little kids diving into it to take a bath early morning. The sky was absolutely splendid shining like gold and the peaks were the ornaments of Nature decorating the little town. Every tree, every flower was speaking to me in their own language as they were dancing to the breeze of early morning. I went ahead and decided to sit next to the River and have breakfast. With no idea of what I had to do in life to succeed, I was here in an unknown town all alone. I was watching the river all the time as it was flowing and that gave me another important lesson in life that was "Everything will eventually pass, but you have to wait for the right time". It was like finally Nature has become my teacher to share all these beautiful lessons with me to help me realise who am I? As I was watching this, a local kid walked past and he saw a Camera in my hand. He asked if he could touch it once and I said "why touch it, try to use it, I'll teach you" and that kid Joyfully sat next to me trying to learn. And this incident gave me perhaps the most important lesson in life that was " Never stop learning new things, ultimately it's only knowledge that's infinite and such knowledge will take you through the right doors". The Kid's smiling face and his joy of learning a new thing sparked a sleepy kid in me. He woke up the child in me and ever since then, I've always seen this world from the perspective of a child, with amusement and curiosity. The kid asked me "Why are you sad?" I said "It doesn't matter why I am, tell me what makes you so happy" and he replied with a smile saying "If I don't smile, my mama don't smile, if she don't smile my papa don't smile and I like smiling because it kills unhappiness, I don't cry, I just smile every time". and that's life.
