A major travel destination, Chengdu city represents a perfect blend of ancient Chinese culture and civilization. The capital city of Sichuan province, it certainly deserves to be. Endowed with natural beauty, architecture, and museums laden with hidden treasures of knowledge about ancient Chinese history, and art, Chengdu city is a unique amalgamation of modern and ancient China. Chengdu Research Base of Giant panda is one of the major places for sightseeing. The exotic place offers shelter to several endangered species of animals ranging from the panda, red panda, and even birds. An exquisite bamboo- made constructions in the breeding center, whereas you see animals give a relaxing moment in the end. A must go if you love watching pandas! Chengdu offers several choices of food, especially a range of street foods. The places include a spicy and mouth-watering variety of exquisite vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisines with tingling sensation due to Sichuan pepper is to satisfy your taste buds. Certainly a boost up during an extremely cold rainy day! Leshan is one of the few unique places in Chengdu with an architectural statue of Gautam Buddha famously known as the Giant Buddha. With a unique hairdo and an upright position, the huge statue represents one of the Bodhisattva located at the junction of three rivers namely Min river, Dadu river, and Qingyi river. The topmost location consists of an exquisite garden along with a pond with fish as well as shops filled with lots of souvenirs to take back home. Absolute fun to watch. Totally a day excursion! Loaded with museums, Chengdu provides a plethora of topics for learners, archaeologists, researchers, historians and scientists to read and learn. Also, an amazing platform to gain knowledge from past experiences. One such museum is the Jian Chuan museum. The museum is equipped with a unique sound system where you can actually feel the tremor, pain, and suffering of the victims during an earthquake. A brilliant visual demonstration! Jin Sha Site museum is undoubtedly a masterpiece. Comprising of several artifacts of gold and jade, a historical excavation site, as well as a history of Sichuan in totality, the museum is a unique blend of history and archeology. The beautiful garden further exhibits the bamboo culture as well as shows how well organized the museum is. An excellent platform for archeologists, students, researchers, and nature lovers! An ancient pedestrian made vibrant with lights and decorations, buildings exhibiting architecture constructed during the prehistoric Qing Dynasty style, Jin Li Street fascinates everyone who loves street food and the vibrancy created by it. Surrounded with shops filled with delicacies ranging from high end to cheaper ones, this place gives a variety of options to buy gifts for your loved and cared ones and even for yourself. Papercut, traditional Chinese art, and the panda shop are such gifts that are very unique. The street ends with yet more gifts and food items and a beautiful park where you can rest and enjoy the serenity. Frequent opera performances during the evening supplements the serenity. Certainly an escape from the mundane life! The wide and narrow alley is another major place depicting ancient Chinese traditional constructions. The Kuan Xiang (Wide alleys) and the Zhai Xiang (Narrow Alleys) is an absolute fun destination to experience the exceptional Chengdu folk lifestyle. Experience the Chinese tea culture or enjoying the sweet delicacies from the food stalls, sculptures, art studios, and the book stores. An all in one destination! Many of us are enchanted by poems and creative writings. One of such places in Chengdu is the ‘Du Fu Cottage’. An explicit location in the residence and demonstration of the creations by the renowned poet Du Fu, the cottage is a beautiful place displaying the Chinese art and architecture. The calligraphy of the poems will definitely blow anybody’s mind. The lotuses blooming in the ponds add to its glory.
