It was the boring mid summer vacations. When out of nowhere i get a phone call , I pick the call and its my dad. He said " Hi" i said "hello" and without any further conversation , he told me to Get ready asap , and said we are going somewhere. And he cut the call and after i get a message from him with details about my booked train ticket and schedule and next morning i woke up at 5 ,Got ready , hopped in the train and reached my destination (delhi) and met my dad. We had our memories refreshed about how we escaped from the tempting summer heat and went to visit the 'Great Elephanta Caves' which is located on the island Elephanta itself in Maharastra, almost 1,849.4 km ( obviously googled it ) from where we lived and it sounds like a crazy mad idea. But guess what ? this is what travelling is all about. Taking risks and exploring this world. Yes , now coming back to the actual story. My dad is really goofy and likes giving me surprises , so all this time he kept everything a secret and didn't reveal a single info about when , how and where we were going ! . So the first day was all lazy and i did couch potato stuff as i was tired but the next day was something much bigger perhaps I'd say the best day of my life. We travelled and soon reached gwalior and I saw something that i had been reading about in history books for years , and something which is a really significant part of the ' indian history ' these were the ruins or the ruined temples of gwalior built around or in , the mid 8th and 9th century, possesing a great history themselves, witnesses and the victims of the rage of famous muslim forces like qutub-din-abak and illtumish. The architectural brilliance and the structural detailings are commendable along with this i sighted out the great gwalior hill fort ( actually climbed a hill for striaght 20 mins) the Mansingh, the Gujari, the Jahangir, the Karan, and the Shah Jahan palaces all in One Day. This isn't where the journey ends , The next day he took me to vrindavan to visit the controversial krishan-radha temple 'Nidhivan'. It is said that a yogi went blind after he secretly at dark, broke the temple lock and tried to find what happened inside the temple at night behind the closed windows with a warning not to enter after nightfall. The beholders, priests and locals believed that krishan and radha perform the dance of divine love at night. Along with the belief people had found evidences like chewed pan leaves , scattered materials and tasted sweets in the morning which were kept for pleasing the god at evening worship, all of this left me flabbergasted and amazed . A question or an evidence of faith and the existence of god ? But all of this became a memorable part of my life . Telling me that not only visiting and exploring places is a priority but knowing the beautiful and mind-blowing history it possesses. Learning not about the culture of a particular religion but the country that we are a part of.
