Have you ever been an English teacher in China at twenty-one years old? Me yes! I was born in Russia, in Siberia. If you think that I spent all my childhood riding on a bear and playing the balalaika, so I will not deny anything! I went to China as a teacher. I just went to the presentation of the project, signed the papers, and a month later I was in Beijing. I was always afraid of extreme activities, but in China I climbed sharp rocks without insurance, swam in the sea next to a nuclear reactor, ate scary food and lived in a hostel where I opened the faucet in the bathroom with napkins. I also lived in a luxurious room and slept on the air on an island near North Korea. In general, this journey was a leap into the unknown! When I arrived in Beijing, I was surprising. People crashed into me and did not even notice when they went forward. In the capital of China, there was a strong smog and I covered my nose with a T-shirt so that the dirt did not get into my lungs. The Chinese at the Beijing station do not know English at all, so when I got lost, I did not know what to do for a long time . There was no mobile Internet, Wi-Fi also was blocked everywhere, VPN didn’t work, and the person who met me from the host organization was late for an hour. All this time, I stood at the Beijing station alone in shock. The atmosphere of Beijing is wild. After Beijing, we were in Tiantzin. There was no smog in this city. There, a team of other teachers stayed in a hostel on the twentieth floor. This hostel was just a hell! There was mold on the walls, corrosion on the sink, someone's hair had accumulated around the shower, and the beds were made of cardboard. For brushing my teeth, I collected drinking water and washed my toothbrush with it. My team of teachers were afraid to imagine what awaits us next. Three days later, we went to the children in a camp outside the city. When we arrived at the camp, we did not believe our eyes! It was a whole area with luxurious cottages, green gardens and sports complex! The bad in room was huge and clean, the shower looked like the king’s bathroom! That hostel in the city was not comparable with the cottage where we worked with children! Chinese children are great students! They are very curious and respectful to teachers. Chinese camps are luxury places! Only talented children can be in this camp. Children also have an overestimated interest in learning. After Tiantin, I went with a group of teachers to Wafanjiang. Wafanjian was a calm city. In this place people looked at us as aliens. Groups of schoolgirls followed us, they took picture of us in shop. In China, anyone with fair skin can feel like a super star, because in China the cult of white skin. I also traveled with teachers to the city of Dalian and to an island near North Korea. On an island near North Korea, we were offered to eat sea urchins, oysters, strange animals similar to centipedes and small fish. I am a vegetarian, so I only ate rice. I decided to sleep on the ground under the sky and enjoy the stars. It was magical! In China, I survived a terrible typhoon from which twenty-eight people were died. I tried ice cream with beans which had a terrible taste. Also I was surprised by the number of cameras that monitor everyone every ten meters. So I made this and I'm ready for a new leap into the unknown!
