Ankara rises as the hero of the steppe in the middle of Anatolia. Turkey's capital, Although Ankara is referred to as the city of civil servants, it holds hidden treasures to be discovered. It has traces from ages of the Hittites, Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks and Ottomans. Ankara does not open itself, does not accept everyone easily. When you step into this city, you cannot see anything interesting to you at first. The city will involve you over time. If you come to city in the morning time, you should firstly go to Güven Park. There, you should buy fresh bagels freshly baked from the oven. If you Eat bagels with freshly squeezed orange juice, it will be beter. Then, have a sit on a bench with your lover and watch the people running around the street while having your little breakfast. You can feed the pigeons in the park. After that, you can take the Ankaray subway to get away from this crowd in Kızılay Square and go to Anıtkabir. You must get off at Anadolu stop after a short journey on this old, noisy and orange seated subway. Anıtkabir is a place of mosaleum for Republic of Turkey's founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. After a short slope, you come to the "lion road" with 24 lion statues. These sculptures were made in the artistic style of the Hittites and represent the 24 Oghuz Turkish clans. Beyond being a tomb, but also Anıtkabir is a place that reminds Turks how they gained their independence. You should definitely see the War of Independence Museum there. Then turn your way to Ankara Castle. The historical castle in Ulus district was built by the Hittites B.C.E. The walls of the castle were conquered by the Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks and Ottomans later. As you take a hard climbing to the castle, you pass through the historical streets. The sweetness of the stone houses in the old architecture of the city warms your inside. You arrive at the castle accompanied by the purring of street cats and the laughter of the children playing ball in the street. Above the castle's walls, the view of the city is under your feet. The ferris wheel in the Youth Park in the opposite side will salute you. You should also visit there and return to your childhood days by spending time at the amusement park in the park. But when you are still in the castle, you may be wonder the hands that put many big and small stones on top of each other and turned this into a castle. Maybe You can move your fingers on these stones with the desire to know many people who touched these stones thousands of years ago. The stones will be whispering to you the story of thousands of years. If you want to continue your short journey to the past, you should definitely visit the Anatolian Civilizations Museum near the castle. You will be finded many more stories of another civilizations there. When this journey between ancient ages makes you hungry, absolutely you should have a lunch at Divan Çukurhan Boutique Hotel near the castle. On the magnificent view terrace, you can choose meals of Turkish and World cuisine. Enjoy your lunch and also drink beautiful Turkish coffee. After the meal, continue the trip. You should make your way down the castle and reach the temple of Agustus. Next to the ruins of this ancient temple, there is a mosque and a tomb belong a Turkish sufi dervish named Hacı Bayram Veli. Hacı Bayram Veli who is an important Sufi thinker had been lived in Ankara between 1352-1430. There is the following his own poem on the signboard next to his tomb: “Who was amazed? it is that person be enlightened Know yourself, know yourself” After seeing the mosque and temple, turn your route to the Swan Park. In this small and cute park, you should watch swans at pool and take a little walk. Then go to Atakule, one of the symbolic structures of Ankara. There are shops and restaurants in this iconic structure, if you want, have a nice Italian meal at the Luigi Restaurant. If your choice is to taste the magnificent Turkish meat and seafood dishes, stop by the Fige Restaurant, which is located very close by. You can have a delicious wine or a traditional Turkish drink Rakı here with your meal accompany live music in the evening.
