15 people were killed and at least 200 injured by a bomb attack on a packed Minsk Metro station. The blast happened during evening rush hour on April 11 2011 at Oktyabrskaya station as a train opened it's doors to allow passengers off.

Generally, Belarus is a safe place for travellers. Violent crimes against travellers are rare, however you should always exercise common sense; if you find yourself in a dangerous situation don't be a hero.
