Travel Insurance and High Value Specified Items.

You have the option to upgrade and pay a little extra to increase the cover for any high value items if they're stolen, lost, damaged or destroyed on your travels.

For policies purchased on or after 1 Nov 2018

You can list your high value items on your policy and cover them up to the item and total benefit limits of your chosen plan. 

How it works

To upgrade the cover for high value items you're taking with you on your trip, simply list them on your policy and pay the additional premium.

You must specify all high value items on your policy when you buy it, or at any time before the start date. Once your policy commences, it’s too late to add any specified items. Any additional personal baggage you buy on your travels will be automatically covered under the baggage limits.

Claiming your high value items

We'll pay for theft, loss, accidental damage or destruction of your high value specified items according to the policy terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions outlined in the policy wording.
Specified items are covered on a new for old basis. This means that if something happens to them while you're travelling and you can make a valid claim, we'll replace or repair your lost or damaged items or make a cash settlement based on the replacement cost, but no greater than the amount you specified. Depreciation is not applied to claims on high value specified items.

If you cannot supply any required supporting documentation then the claim may be denied. Supporting documents include original purchase receipts, valuation reports and acceptable proof of ownership.
 

Note: For policies purchased between 1 November 2018 and 16 January 2019, your World Nomads policy is backed by certain underwriters at Lloyd’s.
For policies purchased between 17 Jan 2019 and 31 July 2019, your World Nomads policy is backed by Lloyd’s Insurance Company SA.

For policies purchased before 1 Nov 2018

You can list your high value items and cover them for up to €500 each when choosing the Standard Plan and up to as much as €900 each when choosing the Explorer Plan.

How it works

To upgrade the cover for high value items you're taking with you on your trip, simply list them on your policy and pay the additional premium.
You MUST specify all high value items on your policy when you buy it OR at any time before the start date. Once your policy commences, it’s too late to add any valuables.
Any additional personal baggage you buy on your travels will be automatically covered under the baggage limits for the plan you choose, Standard or Explorer.

Claiming your high value items

We'll pay for theft, loss or accidental damage of your high value specified items according to the policy terms, conditions and exclusions outlined in the policy wording.

Specified items are covered on a new for old basis. This means that if something happens to your valuables while you're travelling and you can make a valid claim, we'll replace or repair your lost or damaged items, or make a cash settlement based on the replacement cost. Depreciation is not applied to claims on high value specified items.

Be aware that any item claimed with a value of over €90 will need an original receipt, valuation report or other acceptable proof of ownership. If this required supporting documentation can not be supplied then the claim may be denied.

You can claim up to €1500 in total for all your specified items with the Standard Plan and €2500  in total for all specified items with the Explorer Plan.


Any baggage claim will have the €90 policy excess applied (per person).
