Simple and flexible travel insurance. Buy more cover from home or while traveling to extend your trip.
If you're traveling longer and your travel insurance policy has expired or is about to expire, World Nomads can offer you cover.
We know that your plans can change and sometimes you have to extend your trip. That’s why we’ve designed simple and flexible travel insurance that you can buy online, anytime, from anywhere in the world.
If you buy a policy while traveling, you may have to wait up to 72 hours for full cover to apply, and certain benefits (like pre-trip cancellation) may not apply as you’ve already left your home country.
Any illness or injury that may occur during the waiting period will be considered a pre-existing condition and not covered. However, you can be covered straight away if you're seriously injured as a result of a serious accident after you buy a policy.
Lastly, if you buy a policy before you current ones expires, you'll have continuous cover. Your policy wording will have full details to understand the cover, limits and exclusions, so make sure you read it before you buy.
Waiting periods apply
After returning to Europe from three days in Morocco, I decided to hike the Rock of Gibraltar. While on top of the rock, I became very sick – dizzy, aches and pain all over, repetitive vomiting, diarrhea and cold chills in 36 degree weather. I asked a stranger for help who pointed me in the direction of St. Bernard's Hospital in Gibraltar. There I was given an IV of Ciprofloxacin, saline, ondansetron and paracetamol. I was also prescribed the antibiotic ciprofloxacin and took pills for the next four days as the infection was eradicated. The doctor assumed salmonella poisoning from something I ate in Morocco.

You can read more about what is considered a pre-existing medical condition, as well as details of the Money Advice Service which lists providers who may cover serious pre-existing medical conditions.
