File your claim online 24/7

Having been on the road for long periods ourselves, we know that waiting until you get home to file a claim isn’t always ideal. World Nomads gives you the freedom to make a claim from wherever you are and whenever you like, so you can keep traveling.

How to file a claim in 5 easy steps

1. Things happen

Don’t panic. If you're experiencing a medical emergency, call our 24/7 Emergency Assistance Team. Keep your plan number handy and be ready with a phone number where you can be reached. If this isn’t a medical emergency and you’d like to discuss another situation, you can call Customer Service at Chubb (our claims administrator) 0800-591-1043 (if you are in Brazil), +1 212-315-1806 (if you are anywhere else in the world) or via this link: www.chubb.com/br-pt/contact.html.

2. Start a claim

Login to Chubb’s claims website: www.chubb.com/br-pt/claims.html. Make sure to have your policy number ready, as you’ll need to use that to file a claim.

3. Follow the prompts

You will be prompted to answer a number of questions relevant to your claim and fill out all required fields. Gather any documents you need to submit. You cannot save your claim as a draft so be sure you have what you need before you start the claims process.

4. Upload & click send

Upload the required documents to support your claim, like receipts or medical notes. Your claim cannot be processed without the required documentation.

5. Keep calm & travel on

The claims team will be in touch if it needs more information and will keep you updated on the status of your claim. Once you register the claim on the website, you will get a response within 48 hours. In this communication, we will inform you about the claim analysis timeline or any pending documents or information required.

Tips for Making a Claim

  • Scan receipts and/or take photos of your belongings before you depart on your trip. If you need to make a claim for lost, stolen or damaged bags or gear, you’ll need proof that you own the items you are claiming for.
  • Remember that travel insurance is considered secondary, or excess. This means that in all cases, you must first try to seek compensation from other sources, like your home health insurance or an airline.
  • If you experience a travel delay or cancelation by your airline, you must first try to get the issue resolved with them directly. You must get the reason for the cancelation or delay in writing, and seek compensation from them first. Exercise your rights first with the airlines and then determine if you have an additional travel insurance claim. If you do, you’ll need documentation to prove the cause of the travel disruption and what the airline offered or provided you.
  • If your bags are lost by an airline, first try to resolve the issue with them and keep a copy of the paperwork. Check out our article on baggage and gear for details on what may be covered.
  • If your bags are damaged by a travel provider (like an airline or train), report damage of your stuff to them first and keep a copy of the paperwork. Ask for compensation from your travel provider first before you file a travel insurance claim.
  • Theft at your destination? Report it to the police as soon as possible (you’ll need the police report to file a claim)
  • Gather any other documentation that may be related to your claim (i.e. new flight itinerary, doctor’s notes etc.). You’ll need to submit the documentation within one year of making the claim, but we recommend doing it sooner!

A painless and intuitive claims process

I was pickpocketed while in Mexico City and had my new iPhone stolen as well as my driver’s license. The claims process for World Nomads was painless and really intuitive. I simply logged everything online. The resolution was extremely fair, and I would be happy to recommend World Nomads to anyone.
