If you're an Irish resident and meet the Residential Eligibility criteria, then you are most welcome to buy a policy while already travelling...no problem at all!
You can buy a policy even if you’re already travelling, working, or studying in another country.
If you buy a policy while already away from home, there is a waiting period of 72 hours from the time you purchase your policy before the insurance coverage for any new events takes effect. In the event of a serious injury resulting from an accident, cover is available from the date your policy commenced and after the event occurs, subject to the accident being witnessed and verified by an independent third party.
For Single Trip policyholders, you can also extend your policy period while away from home by signing into your World Nomads membership, as long as you extend it before 11.59pm IST/GMT on the policy end date shown on your policy certificate. You can extend up to a maximum duration of 12 months from the original start date; conditions apply to extensions.
Where the insurance is purchased after your trip has commenced, your country of residence will determine the laws, regulations and tax that apply.
