  • Trusted by:

This information is for all travellers except: Americans, Australians, Brazilians, British, Canadians, Irish, and New Zealanders.

Our intrepid travelers often go to places off the beaten track.  Unfortunately off the beaten track can also mean limited medical support when it’s needed.

That’s where World Nomads can help with repatriation travel insurance, helping you navigate the local administration to get you to a place where you can access the medical help you need.

What will we cover you for?

If you are hurt or injured and need help getting medical assistance the first step is always to contact our emergency assistance medical team and let us know what is going on.

Depending on what's happened to you, we can:

  • Transporting you via ambulance or other means to adequate medical facilities nearby
  • Medically Evacuate you to medical facilities in another country
  • Transport you back home to your country of residence to receive medical support

Before you agree to any transportation back home, you must ensure it has been approved by us or you will not be covered for the expense of it.

 What we won’t cover

If your transport home or medical evacuation has not been approved by us then we won’t cover the expense for it.  In addition we will not cover you for:

  • Unreasonable expenses. For example, we won’t pay for you to fly first class back home if there’s an economy seat available
  • If you refuse transportation which the Bupa Global Travel’s medical consultant or Bupa Global Travel has deemed necessary
  • Transportation delays
  • Any expenses that have not been approved by us
  • Any pre-existing medical conditions not approved by us as per your policy

This isn't a complete list of what's not covered. Read through the policy carefully so you know how we can cover you.

Here are our most frequently asked questions. You can also find the answers to other questions in our Helpdesk or you can ask the customer service team. If you’re looking for general travel advice, you can ask our community at Ask a Nomad.

  • Can my mum come and get me?
Yes, in some situations we can send your mum over to pick you up if you need mobility support. If you’re on any kind of administrative medication, then we might send you a nurse or doctor.
  • What happens I’m on life support?
That’s a really bad way to end your holiday, and we hope you never end on life support. But if you do, we will look at the best possible solution to either get you home, or get your family over there to say goodbye.
