Get covered by World Nomads, even if you're already on the road.

We know it can be easy to forget to buy travel insurance when you’re planning a much-needed overseas holiday. If you’ve left the UK without travel insurance, or your policy is due to expire and you’re still on the road, you can still purchase travel insurance with World Nomads.

If you are already travelling and have left the UK all you need is a stable internet connection and you can buy or extend your travel insurance anytime, anywhere.

If you buy a policy while travelling, waiting periods, conditions and restrictions on cover do apply.

What is a Waiting Period?

You may have to wait 72 hours (waiting period) before any cover is activated, depending on when you purchase your policy as explained in ‘When cover starts & ends’ in your policy wording. This means certain benefits (such as our pre-trip cancellation cover) may not apply as you’ve already left the UK.

Most policies can cover you straight away if you're injured in an accident after you buy a policy. Your Policy Wording will have full details to understand the cover, limits and exclusions.

Malaria at Christmas.

In the 25th of December I woke up feeling nausea, fever, headache, and lethargy. After two days with the symptoms not ceasing I went to a clinic and was admitted with severe malaria. I stayed in the hospital for two days taking shots for malaria and also saline drip.

Pre-existing medical conditions

World Nomads policies cannot cover claims due to Pre-Existing Medical Conditions (PEMC), regardless of whether the condition is serious or not (this includes if you're on separate or joint policies). You can still purchase a World Nomads policy, but the PEMC exclusion is not removable.

For travel insurance providers that offer cover on PEMC, visit the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) Money Helper website, or call 0800 138 7777. BIBA's (The British Insurance Brokers' Association) Find Insurance Service offers information on serious PEMCs and travel insurance providers that may cover these conditions. You can also contact them on 0370 950 1790.
