Travel insurance can help save your trip costs when you cancel your travel plans
Nobody wants to plan (and pay for) a trip that’s not going to happen. If you need to unexpectedly cancel for a covered reason, World Nomads can help you recover your investment.
Trip cancellation is a benefit that reimburses you for any pre-paid non-refundable trip costs if you need to cancel due to a circumstance covered under your plan. The most common reasons for cancellation include sicknesses and injuries, but they could also be related to natural disasters, strikes, terrorist attacks, and other events.
Reimbursable costs could include transportation, accommodations, and tours, up to the maximum amount specified in the plan documents that you received when you purchased your travel insurance.
For the trip cancellation benefit to go into effect, you’ll need to explain why your trip was cancelled. You’ll be covered for only the specific reasons spelled out in your travel insurance policy. Examples of covered reasons include:
Once you know that your event is a covered reason, you must also meet the plan conditions. This is a set of requirements that determines your eligibility. For example, if your work emergency involves a company merger, you must be involved directly with the merger process in order for you to get reimbursed for your claim.

Besides reasons not listed in your policy, the following exclusions apply:

I had to cancel my trip to Tanzania because my wife hurt her back in an accident. I was supposed to leave in three days, but it is impossible now because I have to take her to the hospital for a scan. I paid for a Kilimanjaro climb which is not refundable because it was too close to my departure date. I also put down a deposit for a three-day safari and had to cancel flights and my volunteer job.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) and travel - what you need to know
Please read your plan documents carefully. Cancellations due to fear of travel are not covered. However, our plan does not exclude losses associated with pandemic or epidemic conditions; meaning that if you, your traveling companion or family member were to become sick (after you purchase the plan) as a result of COVID-19, you could still receive benefits for losses covered by the plan.
