Raised bilingual and bicultural (Swedish and American), Annika Hipple has had travel in her blood since an early age. As a freelance writer and photographer, she contributes articles about travel, the environment, history, and related topics to a wide variety of print and online publications, and publishes the website RealScandinavia.com about travel and culture in the Nordic countries.
She also has a deep love for Latin America, which she first visited on a college study abroad program to Ecuador in 1994. She has since traveled extensively throughout the region and also conducted research in Mexico City as part of a master's degree in Latin American studies. An avid salsa dancer, Annika has traveled to Cuba many times, both independently and as a professional tour leader. She has found it very interesting to follow the changes that have taken place in the country since her first visit back in 1997.
