World Nomads travel insurance covers Americans when they travel, and in some cases, may be able to pay for you to resume your trip if you unexpectedly need to return home early.
Your plan offers you transportation back to your trip destination and any pre-paid, non-refundable accommodations you’ve missed because you’ve had to interrupt your trip for a covered reason such as:
- An unexpected injury or illness has prevented you from continuing your travels, as certified by a physician and approved by the 24/7 Emergency Assistance team.
- A travel companion or family member traveling with you needs medical treatment for a sickness or accidental injury.
- A close family member dies.
If you return home for a reason other than for a medical emergency, you will need to pay your own transportation – both back to your house and back to your original trip destination should you wish to pick up where you left off after some time at home.
Will my cover still work if I resume my trip?
While your coverage is not in effect when you’re at home, it’s still valid when you travel up until the original end date of your policy, provided that you’ve returned home to visit and not for a covered sickness. That means you don’t have to buy a new policy if you choose to get back on the road. You will have to purchase an extension or a new policy, however, if you want to travel beyond your policy’s original end date.
