Am I Covered for Travel to Cuba as a U.S. Resident?

On June 4, 2019, the U.S. government Trump announced new travel restrictions to Cuba, ending organized group travel known as "people-to-people" travel and no longer permitting recreational vessels, including cruise ships, yachts, and private or corporate aircraft, from stopping on the island. Policyholders and travelers may be asking about how recent events may have affected their travel insurance.

Can I buy a World Nomads insurance policy for travel to Cuba?

Due to a recent change in US government policy, we are no longer able to provide coverage for travelers with the United States as a country of residence visiting Cuba.

What if I have a visa that entitles me to go to Cuba as a US citizen?

Our number one priority is looking after our travelers. Unfortunately, due to increased U.S. government sanctions on Cuba, we can no longer offer coverage for Cuba to our US travelers at this time.

What if I already bought a policy prior to the sanctions coming into force?

We will provide a refund for those who have not yet traveled and have not filed a claim with an explanation regarding the new US sanctions.
