Looking for comprehensive travel insurance options to cover your adventure overseas? World Nomads has designed our travel insurance coverage with the adventurous traveler in mind.
While we won't say our travel insurance is fully comprehensive (because it doesn't cover everything), our travelers get up to all sorts of different things, so we offer two levels of coverage under our Standard and Explorer plans. Our plans cover more than 200 activities, sports, work and volunteer experiences for U.S. residents, for both the more and the less adventurous among us.
All World Nomads policies include:
You also have access to World Nomads safety information, travel guides and more.
Our policies aren’t designed to cover everything, so take the time to read the terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions in the policy wording for full details so that there are no surprises if you need to use it. If you’re not sure if something is covered, please get in touch.
When you get a quote, you’ll be able compare the benefits between the Standard and Explorer plans, and download the policy wording before you buy.
If you put yourself in danger, then we won’t cover you. This includes going to places the authorities in your country of residence or your destination country tell you not to, doing activities that you’re not qualified for or that are too dangerous. We have a list of covered activities in our policies and if you’re not sure, give us a call and we’ll let you know if we’ll cover it or not.
Other things we won’t cover include:
This is not a full list of what is and isn’t covered, so please check your policy for a full list of terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions that may apply to your specific plan. Any example scenarios provided above are not a guarantee of coverage. All claims are subject to review, require documentation and are considered individually. If you have any questions about what is and is not covered, please reach out – we’re happy to help.
I was surfing at Playa Carmen near Malpais, Costa Rica. I jumped off of my board into the water and landed face-first on a rock. My chin was split open and required 8 stitches to close, administered at the local emergency clinic. They also wrote me a prescription for antibiotics to prevent infection at the wound site, which I bought at the pharmacy across the street.
