How to successfully submit a travel insurance claim in five simple steps

Hey there, fellow nomad! So, you've had an unexpected hiccup during your journey, and now you're wondering how to navigate the process of submitting a travel insurance claim. Don't worry; we're here to help!

As an experienced travel insurance provider with over 25 years’ experience in the travel insurance industry, we have paid out thousands of claims.

We know it's not an exciting process, but it is crucial. We're here to guide you through it in five simple steps, ensuring you get the support you need when you need it the most.

How to submit a travel insurance claim in five simple steps

Step 1: Know your policy

Before diving into the claim process, it's important to familiarize yourself with your travel insurance policy. Take some time to review the coverage details, including what's included and what's not. This means reading your Certificate of Insurance once you have purchased a policy and that email hits your inbox. Understanding your policy will help you determine if your situation is eligible for a claim.

Step 2: Gather your documents

Now that you're ready to make a claim, gather all the necessary documents to support your case. This may include:

  • Copies of your travel itinerary and booking confirmations
  • Receipts for any expenses incurred due to the incident (e.g., medical bills, accommodation, transportation)
  • Police reports or incident reports if applicable
  • Medical certificates or documentation from healthcare providers
  • Any other relevant documentation related to the incident

Step 3: Submit your claim online

Making a claim is as easy as a few clicks! Visit our website and navigate to the claims section. You'll need to log in via the World Nomads’ member portal and find the online form where you can enter all the required information and upload your documents. Be sure to provide accurate details to expedite the processing of your claim. If you can’t login through the member portal, then you can contact the Claims Services team who can take your claim details over the phone, email or fax.

Step 4: Follow-up as needed

Once you've submitted your claim, keep an eye on your email inbox for any updates or requests for additional information from our claims team. Promptly respond to any inquiries to ensure the smooth processing of your claim. We're here to assist you every step of the way!

Step 5: Stay patient

While we strive to process claims as quickly as possible, some cases may require additional review or verification. We appreciate your patience while we work diligently to resolve your claim. We're committed to providing timely assistance and support throughout the process.

Tips when submitting a travel insurance claim:

  1. Do: provide complete and accurate information when submitting your claim. Submit your claim forms and supporting documents promptly to avoid any delays in processing.

  2. Do: keep copies of all documents and correspondence related to your claim for your records. Ensure that all documents and information provided in your claim forms is accurate and truthful to avoid any complications or potential denial of your claim.

  3. Do: inform us as soon as possible after the incident occurs to initiate the claims process.

  4. Do: stay in communication with us throughout the claims process and promptly respond to any requests for additional information.

  5. Do: follow the instructions provided by us regarding the claims process, including any required forms or documentation.

  6. Do Not: delay in submitting your claim or providing requested information, as this may prolong the process. Follow up regularly to ensure progress.

  7. Do Not: attempt to falsify or exaggerate claims, as this can result in denial of coverage.

  8. Do Not: assume that every expense will be covered by your travel insurance policy. Review your policy carefully to understand what is covered and what is not covered.

  9. Do Not: ignore exclusions listed in your travel insurance policy. Understand what is excluded from coverage to avoid surprises during the claims process.

  10. Do Not: assume that your claim will be denied without understanding the reasons for denial. Seek clarification from the claims team if necessary.

Travel insurance is not designed to cover everything, so take the time to read the full description of cover in the policy wording for the full details on what’s not covered as well as the terms, conditions, limitation and exclusions. If you are unsure of anything, please contact us for help.

Travel Insurance for Delayed Baggage

Learn how travel insurance could help if your luggage misses your flight.

    As featured in:

  • As featured in:

You’re the last one standing at baggage claim. And there are no bags left on the merry-go-round. Every Nomad’s been there. Delayed baggage is a common offender and can leave even the most seasoned Nomad without their unmentionables. Sometimes it pays to squeeze everything into your carry-on luggage.

When you arrive but your bags don’t, our travel insurance may help ease the blow (and get you on your way to a fresh pair of knickers).

When your luggage doesn’t follow the travel itinerary

If your luggage has lost its way you may be wondering what’s covered if your bags are delayed.

Depending on your Country of Residence and your chosen travel insurance policy, if your checked-in bags are delayed for the duration or more of your waiting period your policy may cover essential items.

Terms and conditions, limits and waiting periods apply, so before you hit the shops on a spending spree be sure to become familiar with your policy wording, the conditions and exclusions of your travel insurance policy.

If you have any questions or are unsure if something is covered, contact us for more information.

What you can claim if your bags are delayed

An airport help desk has a way of delivering unwelcome news - particularly if they’ve failed to deliver your bags. If you’ve been told your bag was delayed in transit, chances are you’ll need fresh clothes at some point. Items you can claim if your bags are delayed include:

  • Underwear
  • Socks
  • T-shirt(s)
  • Toiletries
  • Prescribed medication.

You may also be covered for other reasonable and (deemed) necessary essential items. Like if you’ve arrived at the snow fields of Canada without a warm jacket (and other clothing to suit the weather of your destination).

Get in touch if you’re unsure what you can claim and consider your policy wording before making any purchase to replace your delayed items.

Items that aren’t covered for delayed baggage

Travel insurance may be the best provision for your personal possessions but that doesn’t mean it covers the impractical (like replacing your rundown kicks with a new pair of designer boots).

While things like underwear, toiletries, and prescribed medication fall under the ‘items you can claim if your bags are delayed’ umbrella, non-essential items are not. A general rule is, if you can live without it for a few days, it’s considered a non-essential item and may not be covered if your bags are delayed. Items deemed non-essential include:

  • Designer jeans
  • Leather jacket
  • Prada shoes.

If you need to make a claim

If your bags are stranded for an extended period without you for company, you’re probably going to need to make a claim.

If you need to make a claim for delayed baggage there are a few steps you need to follow, including but not limited to:

  • Report it to your carrier
  • Complete all documentation required by your carrier
  • Submit relevant receipts for the items you buy
  • Follow the guidelines around spending limits and items that are covered as part of your policy.

Take a look at our article ‘What to do if your luggage is delayed’ for more information. And if you’re still not sure, get in touch and one of our team can help.

Things you should know (and other tips for surviving delayed baggage)

Terms and conditions and exclusions apply and there are limits on the amount you can spend. And if your bags arrive at your destination within the waiting period outlined by your travel insurance policy, cover may not apply.

Always check your policy wording for full details on what’s covered and what’s not, as well as what you need to do to make a valid claim for delayed baggage.

One of the best tips from our Nomads to keep your luggage safe is to keep your valuables with you. When in transit, take your most precious items out of your checked-in luggage and carry them with you in your carry-on luggage and/or daypack. That way, when the inevitable happens, you won’t be left without them.

Travel insurance doesn't cover everything. All of the information we provide is a brief summary. It does not include all terms, conditions, limitations, exclusions and termination provisions of the plans described. Coverage may not be the same or available for residents of all countries, states or provinces. Please carefully read your policy wording for a full description of coverage.

Travel Insurance for Overseas Medical

If you get sick or injured overseas, learn how you may be covered for emergency medical treatment overseas.

    As featured in:

  • As featured in:

We’ve seen some pretty hairy accidents and illnesses, from aneurysms to scooter crashes, and at least one shark bite! When the unexpected happens, our 24/7 Emergency Assistance Team will support you and your family, so you can focus on getting better.

What overseas medical expenses are covered by travel insurance?

If you’re injured in an accident or suddenly get sick while traveling, you may be covered for emergency medical treatment overseas including:

  • Hospitalization
  • Day surgery and out-patient treatment
  • Visits to registered medical practitioners
  • Prescribed medicines
  • Ambulances

Am I covered for Coronavirus related medical costs while overseas?

Depending on your Country of Residence and the travel insurance plan you choose, you may also have access to Coronavirus (COVID-19) coverage for certain events. Some of our plans offer:

  • Emergency medical cover, evacuation, and/or repatriation if you’re diagnosed with COVID-19 while overseas;
  • Cover for some additional Coronavirus-related events such as cancellation following a diagnosis to assist our travelers on the Explorer Plan.

To find out what cover applies to you, read our What’s Covered for Coronavirus article which has some of the details, including benefit limits, conditions, and exclusions. Coverage depends on your Country of Residence and varies between plans.

Why should I consider travel insurance for medical emergencies?

Whether you’re young, old, or anywhere in between, one of the key reasons why many travelers take out travel insurance is to make sure they are covered for any unexpected injury or illness while on holiday.

That’s why World Nomads policies offer two different plans – Standard vs Explorer – that offer different levels of cover for overseas emergency medical situations. In many cases, if you get sick, the hospital may not treat you without upfront payment or providing proof of a travel insurance policy. World Nomads travel insurance can offer cover for overseas emergency medical expenses including:

  • Hospitalization
  • Out-patient treatment (that doesn’t require hospital admission)
  • Prescribed medicines
  • Dental care
  • Transport to get you home for ongoing treatment if we decide it's medically necessary.

This is not a full list of what's covered. There are terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions that apply, and cover will depend on your Country of Residence, and which plan you have purchased.

FAQ

Here are our most frequently asked questions about dental insurance. You can also find the answers to other questions in our Helpdesk or you can ask our customer service team

  • How do I claim for any dental treatment?

If you’ve had to see a dentist while on your trip and you receive dental treatment, then you will need to get a medical report confirming the dental injury, illness or sickness and also the treatment received was required for the immediate relief of sudden and acute onset of pain to support your claim.

Contact the 24/7 Emergency Assistance Team as soon as possible as they may be able to speak to the medical facility to authorise payment or answer any questions you may have.

  • Why can’t I get treated for any dental issues I may have?

As part of our policy cover, we can only cover dental work which is only required for the immediate relief of acute pain on healthy teeth. This means that major dental work like crowns, bridges, dental prostheses, treatment involving the use of precious metals and cosmetic dentistry will not be covered as this can wait until you return to your country of residence.

With this in mind, any dental surgery or other medical treatment which, in the opinion of the attending medical practitioner, our 24/7 Emergency Assistance Team or us, that can be reasonably delayed until your return home, will not be covered.

Unable to travel in first trimester

I unexpectedly became pregnant towards the end of November. I was planning on still going on the trip until my doctor diagnosed me with Hyperemesis Gravidarum. They recommend not leaving the country due to these complications in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Travel insurance for medical repatriation

How travel insurance helps for medical repatriation.

    As featured in:

  • As featured in:

When you take yourself on an adventure to the far ends of the Earth—whether it’s dog-sledding with Huskies across the snow in Scandinavia or riding the waves in Japan, accidents (or illnesses) are bound to happen. And if they do, there really is no place like home when it comes to receiving the best medical care.

Differing to medical evacuation, which may be able to help transport you to the nearest medical center in an emergency, the medical repatriation benefit offers coverage to get you home for further medical treatment, recovery, or rehabilitation.

If things go sideways while you’re overseas, we’re here to help. Here are just some of the ways we can assist with medical repatriation for you and your family.

What’s covered

After World Nomads and your local doctor have given you the go-ahead to return home, then we may cover:

  • One-way economy airfare to return you to your Country of Residence; or
  • Fares for additional seats should you need to accommodate a stretcher; or
  • Flight upgrade to business class when a stretcher isn’t necessary;
  • Round-trip airfare for a medical escort when a requirement by the airline or when medically necessary.

What's not covered

While your safety and health are our utmost concern, we don’t cover everything. Always check your policy wording. Here’s an overview of what’s not covered.

We don’t cover:

  • Incidents related to the intake of alcohol or drugs (see policy wording)
  • Unnecessary upgrades or other non-cost-effective options
  • Medical expenses incurred back home
  • Accidents that are a result of irresponsible or risky behavior
  • Pre-existing medical conditions, as outlined in your policy wording.

Am I covered for COVID-19 related medical repatriation and evacuation?

Depending on your Country of Residence, you may have access to cover for repatriation if you’re diagnosed with COVID-19. If you are diagnosed with COVID-19 while overseas, your cover may include:

  • 24/7 access to our Emergency Assistance team, who can help you access local medical care
  • Medical hospitalisation
  • Evacuation or repatriation if deemed medically necessary by us and in consultation with your attending medical practitioner.

To find out what cover applies to you, read our What's Covered for Coronavirus article, which has all of the details, including benefit limits, conditions and exclusions.

Coverage depends on your Country of Residence and varies between plans.

Our policies aren’t designed to cover everything, so take the time to read the terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions in the policy wording for full details so that there are no surprises if you need to use it. If you’re not sure if something is covered get in touch.

Real life medical repatriation

Here are some of the ways we’ve been able to help Nomads get home for the medical assistance they needed:

I was driving home with my friend Nick on the back of my motorbike, when, out of nowhere, a car hit us on the side. The impact immediately trapped my right leg between my motorbike and the front of the car… Nick stood up and looked at me and the first thing he said was “Don’t look at your leg. Don’t look at your leg,”. Of course, I looked at my leg, and it was gone.

Without the 24-hour medical assistance World Nomads provided, I don’t know what we would have done.

Peter,

World Nomads customer from Australia

I fell on my side and heard the sound of dry stick breaking, I realized my leg was broken, then I just lay on the beach... The first phone call I got was from World Nomads and they basically told me, you don't worry about this Anton, just focus on getting better...and we'll take care of the rest.

Anton required surgery after breaking his leg and wrist in a fall while traveling in Thailand. We called Anton daily to check on his progress and once cover was confirmed, we took care of his medical bills and his hospital admin.

After his surgery, Anton couldn’t travel back to Iceland without help, so we sent Luke from our Emergency Assistance Team to Thailand to meet him while in hospital. Luke was also there to help Anton carry his bags and escort him home on the plane to Iceland.

Anton,

World Nomads customer from Iceland

FAQ‘s

Here are our most frequently asked questions around medical repatriation. You can also find the answers to other questions in Help Center or you can ask the customer service team.

Can my mother come and get me?

In some situations, we can send your mum over to pick you up if you need mobility support. If you’re on any kind of administrative medication, then we might send you a nurse or doctor. Check your policy wording and the conditions of your travel insurance policy to see whether you will be covered.

Can I choose the gender of my nurse or doctor?

You can ask, and we'll see what we can do.

What if I'm on really heavy drugs as pain killers while I'm coming home? Will I be allowed to transit in all countries?

There are some countries which will not allow you to enter (even transit) with certain drugs, and in these cases, we will either reroute you or discuss with your treating doctor on alternate pain killers.

What happens if I’m on life support?

That’s a really bad way to end your holiday, and we hope you never end on life support. But if you do, we will look at the best possible solution to either get you home or get your family over there to say goodbye.

Abdominal pain in Myanmar

On my second day in Burma, I woke up in the middle of the night with intense abdominal distress. I was rushed to the Asia Royal Hospital and immediately taken for evaluation and an ultrasound. I had a large mass in my abdomen and evacuated to Bangkok that evening to see a specialist. I was admitted to Bumrungrad International Hospital, where I stayed for eight days for a battery of tests, including several ultrasounds, a CT scan, and two aspirations of what turned out to be a renal cyst. After a conditional discharge, where I was restricted to rest, I was deemed stable enough to be evacuated. Two days later I was on a flight back to the U.S., where I am now continuing treatment.

Simple and flexible travel insurance for skiers and snowboarders. Buy at home or while traveling, and claim online from anywhere in the world.

Why consider travel insurance when skiing or snowboarding?

Big dumps, fresh tracks and bluebird days will make for an epic snow trip, but accidents can happen on and off the piste, even for the most experienced sliders. If you’re learning on your first trip or you’re a ski bum chasing seasons, World Nomads travel insurance can help you and your family when the unexpected hits your next winter adventure.

World Nomads loves the snow

As passionate ski bums, we’ve designed our plans to offer cover options our Nomads love the most*:

  • Skiing and boarding within resorts
  • Cross-country skiing on marked trails
  • Terrain parks, heli-skiing & heli-boarding (some plans only, check yours carefully)
  • Snowmobiling, ice skating, snow rafting & more.

*All plans are different and may require an upgrade for skiing or snowboarding cover to apply. Conditions and exclusions apply. Read the policy wording carefully to choose the right plan and/or adventure sport option for your trip.

What does World Nomads travel insurance cover?

  • Skiing, snowboarding and other winter sports accidents
  • Piste closures
  • Cancelled and delayed flights
  • Cover for natural disasters (for example if an avalanche occurs)
  • Medical evacuation and repatriation when required
  • Cover for high value specified items (ski/winter equipment such as snowboard, skis or helmet)
  • Cover for lost, stolen, or damaged equipment.

For more information on what you may be covered for you can read our Helpdesk article on coverage when skiing and doing other winter sports. Make sure you add in your country of residence in the country picker for the most up to date information.

Coverage for some Coronavirus (COVID-19)-related events

With Coronavirus causing travel disruptions globally, it’s important that you follow any government guidelines when planning your trip overseas.

The level of cover you’ll have for any Coronavirus-related events under our Standard and Explorer plans will depend on your Country of Residence and the plan you’ve selected. To find out more, read our What’s Covered for Coronavirus article, which goes into more detail on all the benefits, including benefit limits, terms and conditions, and exclusions.

Our 24/7 Emergency Assistance Team can direct you to nearby appropriate care, talk to doctors, help with a foreign language, provide access to translation services, and keep travelers in touch with family members. If your situation is life-threatening, seek medical help immediately and let us know when you can so we can help with medical assistance and keep your friends and family informed.

What could affect the cost of my travel insurance?

There are several factors that may affect how much you’ll end up paying for your travel insurance. Depending on what your plans are, where you are going, and how much cover and optional extras, the prices may vary due to some of these key factors:

  • Any existing medical conditions
  • You and your travel partner’s age as well as your dependents ages
  • Optional extras cover such as adding specific adventure activities & sports
  • The length of your trip
  • Any high value items you want to add. You must list all high value items on your policy when you buy it.
  • The number of destinations you plan to visit.

Make sure that you’ve selected the right travel insurance plan for your specific needs. With World Nomads you can get a quote, make a claim, or extend your policy instantly online, anytime, from anywhere.

What’s not covered

While there are several things we can offer coverage for, there are also things we just won’t cover. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Any competition, free-style skiing / free-style snowboarding, ski/ snowboard jumping, ski-flying, ski / snowboard acrobatics, ski / snowboard stunting, or ski racing or national squad training, the use of skeletons
  • Working as a ski, snowboard or diving instructor or guide
  • Any of your ski or winter sports items lost, stolen or damaged that are unsupervised or unattended
  • If you travel against medical advice or neglect to adhere to government ‘Do Not Travel’ warnings issued prior to departure
  • Any adventure activities or sports that aren’t covered by our policies
  • Any pre-existing medical conditions
  • Any costs related to illegal activities or being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Key insurance tips for your ski and winter sports trip

Whether you’re a pro skier or planning your first ever winter trip overseas, these insurance tips may be helpful when planning your next winter getaway:

  • Be aware of skiing or snowboarding no go zones: don’t decide to go into back country areas without taking local advice and appropriate rescue equipment. You should follow the International Ski Federation code or the resort regulations.
  • Proof of purchase: yep, any claim you make will need supporting documentation such as receipts of your purchases. Keep these with you in printed or digital form if you intend to make a claim.
  • It pays to be prepared: check the weather, check your equipment, and check the credentials of your ski instructor – if any seem unreliable then reconsider if it’s a smart move to go.
  • Don’t get in over your head: be responsible when choosing a skiing or snowboarding destination or winter sports activity. Does it suit your experience level? Are you using an accredited tour operator?
  • Keep an eye on your ski gear: don’t leave your expensive ski and winter sports gear or any other baggage unattended - those 'I spaced out” moments might not qualify for coverage.
  • Be responsible: choose a ski tour operator that promotes responsible tourism, works as part of the local community, as well as actively helps to conserve the environment.

Travel insurance doesn't cover everything. All the information we provide is a brief summary. It does not include all terms, conditions, limitations, exclusions and termination provisions of the plans described. Please carefully read your policy wording for a full description of coverage. • Any pre-existing medical condition unless otherwise expressly stated in your policy.
  • Participation in a sport or activity not listed as covered in the policy wording or agreed by World Nomads or where you haven’t paid the required additional premium.

This is not a full list of what is and isn’t covered, so please check your policy for a full list of terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions that may apply to your specific plan. If you are unsure of your level of travel cover, please contact us for help.

Top tips for your hiking adventure

To make the most of your time on the trail, you might want to keep the following tips in mind:

  • It pays to be prepared: check the weather, check your equipment, and check the credentials of any instructors and guides – if they aren’t up to scratch then reconsider if it’s a smart move to go.
  • Get hike fit: hiking requires a certain amount of strength and stamina, and in some cases such as the Inca Trail, the ability to handle altitude. Be sure you are physically capable of it.
  • Be responsible: exercise responsibility when deciding on your hiking trip. Does it suit everyone’s experience level? Are you using an accredited tour operator? Make sure to wear appropriate safety gear. Some activities require you to use accredited operators and specific safety gear, so be sure to check your policy wording carefully. If you’re not sure if something is covered, contact us.
  • Keep your receipts and paperwork: any claim you make will need supporting documentation such as receipts of your purchases. Keep these with you in printed or digital form if you intend to make a claim.
Our policies aren’t designed to cover everything, so take the time to read the terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions in the policy wording for full details so that there are no surprises if you need to use it. If you’re not sure if something is covered get in touch.

Travel insurance when going scuba diving

Simple and flexible travel insurance to keep you safe on your next dive trip. Buy at home or while traveling, and claim online from anywhere in the world.

    As featured in:

  • As featured in:

Going on an underwater adventure?

Calm waters, crystal clear visibility and a bulletproof dive plan might make for the perfect underwater adventure, but accidents can happen. Whether you're learning or you’ve done hundreds of dives, World Nomads travel insurance can help take the pressure off you and your family if the unexpected sinks your next dive trip.

What types of dives are covered?

As passionate divers ourselves, we’ve designed our plans to cover dives from the Great Blue Hole to The Yongala, and we can offer cover for:

  • Recreational scuba diving (qualified divers up to 50m on some plans)
  • Discover scuba dives (with qualified instructors)
  • Shark cage diving, cavern, cave and wreck diving (some plans only, check yours carefully)
  • Snorkeling, island escapes, live-aboard trips and more.

Keep in mind that all plans are different and may require an additional premium when going scuba diving to specific depths depending on the plan chosen and your Country of Residence. Terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions apply. Read the policy wording carefully to choose the right plan and/or adventure sport option for your trip.

Choosing the right policy for you

We offer two plans – Standard and Explorer – each of which offers different levels of coverage. It is up to you to choose what plan has the right level of coverage to meet your travel needs and that matches your specific scuba diving plans.

For more information on what you may be covered for, check out our article on specific coverage when scuba diving. Make sure you add in your country of residence for accurate information.

Cover for your scuba diving gear

We know that scuba diving equipment such as scuba tanks, fins BCD and regulator, underwater film and photography equipment can be expensive, so we can offer cover for high-value items.

We also offer cover for your baggage in general so if your baggage or scuba diving gear is delayed, lost and/or damaged, you may be able to claim for a replacement, reimbursement or delay up to a per item and total maximum limit. Terms and conditions apply so be sure to check the policy wording and contact us if you have any questions.

Your coverage will vary according to your Country of Residence and whether you choose a Standard or an Explorer PlanRead your policy wording for details on maximum benefit limits, exclusions, and the terms and conditions of your coverage.

If your gear is delayed, lost or damaged, you must report the incident as soon as possible to a responsible officer for the carrier. Make sure you get a Property Irregularity Report, or a similar official report, in writing and make a claim directly with the carrier before making a claim.

Cover for medical emergencies

Your health and safety are a priority when you’re exploring the ocean, which is why our plans cover emergency medical expenses should you become sick, get into an accident or get hurt whilst diving or snorkelling.

Cover for medical evacuation

You might be on a reef far from medical assistance on your dive, and our policies include coverage if you need to be evacuated to a medical facility.

Emergency assistance 24/7

Having an emergency in a foreign country can be overwhelming but buying a World Nomads policy means you’ll have access to our 24/7 Emergency Assistance team. Our Emergency Assistance team can facilitate a range of services in whatever part of the world you’re traveling, can speak multiple languages and they’re available 365 days a year.

Scuba diving: What’s not covered

While we can offer coverage for a lot of scuba diving events, there are also things we just won’t cover. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Any unaccompanied dive, any dive for gain or reward, any dive which takes you deeper than your current qualification limits, or any dive deeper than 50 metres under any circumstance – sorry, but that’s a no-go for us.
  • If you travel against medical advice or neglect to adhere to government ‘Do Not Travel’ warnings issued prior to departure.
  • Any pre-existing medical condition unless otherwise expressly stated in your policy.
  • Participation in a sport or activity not listed as covered in the policy wording or agreed by World Nomads or where you haven’t paid the required additional premium.
  • Expenses you incur after you return to your Country of Residence.
  • Working or participating professionally in any activity or sport.

Handy tips for safe scuba diving

  • Only dive if you are fit to do so. You may need to consult your medical practitioner before going scuba diving and get a ‘fit to travel’ approval
  • Check all your gear to ensure everything is in good working order and then do a buddy check of your fellow divers. (Note: many products do not cover gear while in use.)
  • Only dive with reputable companies using licensed, seaworthy boats and well-maintained dive equipment. Make sure you check your instructor's credentials.
