You won’t be able to buy more cover or extend your policy if it’s already expired, if you’re 70 years old (or older) or if the policy/product you bought is no longer available.
All travel insurance policies have exclusions and limitations. We won’t provide cover for:
This is only a summary of coverage and does not include the full terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of the policy. I arrived home around 7:30ish from dinner feeling unwell and attempted to go to sleep. About half an hour later i threw up and had diarrhea which continued on and off for few hours. Around 1:20 am my heart begun palpitation and I felt dizzy with blurry vision. I called my mother and father whom are currently in Bali also on holiday. They came to where i am staying and decided it was best to take me to the emergency room. I was taken to Kasih Ibu Hospital in Denpasar. Where doctors treated me and kept me in the ICU for 2 days for further observation and testing.

Travelling with your family is a whole different ball game. While you may have once pushed boundaries on your own, you now have loved ones in tow. That’s where World Nomads Travel Insurance comes in, we are here to support New Zealand families when unexpected events occur.
With World Nomads travel insurance cover, a dependent is:
Note: age limits for dependents as outlined above will vary depending on your country of residence. Always read the Policy Document so you know what you are and are not covered for.
When applying for a policy there must be at least one adult insured on the policy, and at least one of the insured adults on the policy must be the legal guardian of the dependent(s).
If a dependent is not travelling with their legal guardian they may need their own policy, depending on your country of residence. Read the Policy Document carefully to choose the right plan and level of cover for everyone who is travelling with you. Your policy may have terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions.
Did you know: You can add your children and grandchildren to our policies at no extra cost? Only adults are charged. It’s just one of the ways we look after families on their travels.
World Nomads is dedicated to assisting New Zealand families with:
Travel insurance tip: If you buy a policy while traveling overseas, you must wait 72 hours before any cover is activated (except for emergency medical as a result of a sudden accident which is witnessed and verified by an independent third party).

If you have to cancel or rearrange your trip, there may be cover for:
How it works
Before you change your plans, you must contact your travel providers to try to minimise your expenses and request any refunds or rescheduling assistance. You may resume your trip under the same policy up until it’s end date (with pre-approval of trip resumption costs first).
You can make a claim online for your additional expenses. You’ll also need a written medical diagnosis from the attending physician and, if applicable, the death certificate to support your claim. Also be aware that any claim submitted will have the policy excess applied.
It depends on the specific policy terms. Please review the PDS or contact customer service for guidance on coverage for your child’s condition.
Go online and enter a few details about yourself, your destinations, and the ages of all your family members. We will generate an instant quote with both Standard and Explorer plan options, and you can pick which one suits your specific needs. Once you’ve selected the right level of cover and paid, you will get instant confirmation of your family travel insurance to your selected email.

Accidents have a way of catching you off guard – especially when you’re away from home. You could be skiing in the Alps when you fracture your wrist or hiking on a remote trail when you sprain your ankle. Automobile accidents are also very common. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 1.19 million people die in road traffic crashes each year, and between 20-50 million are left with non-fatal injuries.
Nobody plans for these situations, but if you’re injured while travelling, you may need to seek medical treatment, and your Government Health Insurance Plan could be limited when you travel outside of your province. It may only pay a small portion, if any, of your medical expenses.
Travel insurance may include multiple benefits that could help you during this time, including emergency medical coverage for things such as a hospital visit, ambulance ride, prescription medication and x-rays. If your medical team and the 24/7 Emergency Assistance Team determine that it’s best for you to go back to your home province to get medical care, you may also be covered for the costs to get you there. If you get seriously hurt during your trip – and lose your sight, a limb, or even your life – you (or a designated beneficiary) may be compensated for the loss (up to maximum limits shown in your policy documents).

*You must have Government Health Insurance Plan (GHIP) coverage in your home province for your entire trip to be eligible for the maximum emergency medical expenses benefit. If you don't, your total limit for all emergency medical expenses is limited to $40,000.
Here are our most frequently asked questions about cover for travel accidents. You can also find the answers to other questions in our Help Center or you can ask the customer service team.
If your medical team determines that it’s best for you to go back to your home province to get medical care, the emergency evacuation and repatriation coverage included in your travel insurance plan may cover the costs to get you there. It may even cover the travel expenses for a qualified medical attendant to travel with you if needed. This is subject to pre-approval from the 24/7 Emergency Assistance Team. Terms and conditions apply.
Just because you’re travelling alone doesn’t mean you have to deal with a medical emergency by yourself. If you’re admitted to the hospital for three or more days during a solo trip, travel insurance for overseas medical emergencies may cover the cost for someone to travel to be with you during your time of need. In addition to a plane ticket, travel insurance may also cover their costs for things such as hotel accommodations and meals for up to 10 days (up to maximum limits).
It’s essential that you get in contact with our 24/7 Emergency Assistance Team as soon as possible so that our team can support you from the time of your accident until you're well again.
So that our emergency assistance team can assist you quickly, please be ready with the following:
Don’t forget to save all documentation related to your medical emergency, including medical reports, receipts, etc. You’ll need those if you plan to make a claim.
