So you’re taking the kids this time? World Nomads loves nothing more than seeing our future Nomads exposed to the wonders of the world at an early age, which is why we can cover your kids or grandkids as dependents on your family policy. We’ll even cover up to seven of your kids if you’re brave enough to take them all! Be sure to list them as dependants when you buy your family policy so they’ll be covered.

Who is covered?

Parents plus their dependent children (as long as at least one of the traveling adults is a legal guardian of the dependent kids, and you all reside in the same state, then you’re good to go on a family policy.)

What is a dependant?

For travel insurance purposes, that would be your kids who are:

  • under 25 years when you buy the policy
  • US citizens or US residents
  • traveling with you on the same itinerary

If the kids are dependents, are they still covered up to the same limits?

Yep! No need to worry as your kids are covered up to the same limits even though they are traveling as dependents. The benefit limits shown on the Family policy are the maximum amount payable per person.

So to give you the idea, if you buy the Explorer plan your emergency medical coverage is $100,000 per person and dental coverage is $750 per person, up to nine people (two adults and seven dependents), no matter how many are listed.

A True Claims Story

My wife fell in our house and broke her right kneecap. She had to have surgery and the doctor says she has to stay off her right leg for 8 weeks. I had to cancel my trip to Israel because I have to stay in the house and be her caregiver.

  • What is covered if we need to cancel our trip?
There's coverage in both Standard and Explorer plans for the transport and accommodation expenses you've already paid for if you can't travel because the doctor certifies that you're medically unfit to travel, or you, your travel buddy or a close relative is hospitalized or dies.
  • What if one of the family gets sick while traveling?
If you or a member of your family is injured or gets sick while you’re traveling, and you’ve bought the policy for the activities you’re doing, you can be covered for: hospitalization; out-patient treatment for medical emergencies; prescribed medicines, X-rays, and laboratory tests; and being brought home, if medically necessary.
