So you’re taking the kids this time? World Nomads loves nothing more than seeing our future Nomads exposed to the wonders of the world at an early age, which is why we can cover your kids or grandkids as dependents on your family policy. We’ll even cover up to seven of your kids if you’re brave enough to take them all! Be sure to list them as dependents when you buy your family policy so they’ll be covered.

Why should I get family travel insurance?

Besides bickering about who gets the window seat or get the last scoop of chocolate ice cream, you may run into a bump or two when you’re traveling with your family. No matter what the ages of your clan – toddlers, teens, tweens or adults – you should consider getting travel insurance for every member of your group. Children, even under the supervision of adults, can get run into a lot of mishaps. More importantly, it’s wise to have a contingency plan in place if an emergency happens to the caregiver, leaving a child unattended. World Nomads’ plans can transport a minor back home, accompanied by an attendant, if necessary, if an adult is hospitalized for at least seven days.

Who is covered under a family travel insurance policy?

Parents plus their dependent children (as long as at least one of the traveling adults is a legal guardian of the dependent kids, and you all reside in the same state, then you’re good to go on a family policy.)

What is a dependent?

For travel insurance purposes, that would be your kids who are:

  • under 25 years when you buy the policy
  • US citizens or US residents
  • traveling with you on the same itinerary

If the kids are dependents, are they still covered up to the same limits?

Yep! No need to worry as your kids are covered up to the same limits even though they are traveling as dependents. The benefit limits shown on the Family policy are the maximum amount payable per person.

So to give you the idea, if you buy the Explorer plan your emergency medical coverage is $100,000 per person and dental coverage is $750 per person, up to nine people (two adults and seven dependents), no matter how many are listed.

A True Claims Story

My wife fell in our house and broke her right kneecap. She had to have surgery and the doctor says she has to stay off her right leg for 8 weeks. I had to cancel my trip to Israel because I have to stay in the house and be her caregiver.
