The good news is you don’t need to be on a return trip from your country of residence to buy World Nomads travel insurance.
You can also buy the policy while already travelling, with or without a ticket back to your country of residence.
You can be covered, as per the policy terms and conditions, even without a return ticket, however, we won’t cover the cost of a ticket home should you need it. That’s because the expense of a ticket back to your country of residence is considered part of a normal trip, and travel insurance is designed to cover unexpected expenses… not pay for your return trip when you’ve had enough of your time away.
If you don't have a return ticket and you need to return home for a covered reason, for example medical repatriation due to illness or injury, we'll deduct from your total claim the cost you would have normally paid for an Economy Class airfare at the carrier's regular published rates for the journey home or our actual cost incurred, whichever is less.
If you have no other claim from which we can deduct this cost, we'll seek recovery directly from you following your return home.
Most importantly, if something happens, and within the defined events covered under our policy, that causes you to interrupt your trip, there’s cover for reasonable 'additional' travelling expenses to get you back home.
Travel insurance is not designed to cover everything, so take the time to read the full description of cover in the policy for the full details on what’s not covered as well as the terms, conditions, limitation and exclusions.
