Don't make your family pay to bring your remains home.
If you die overseas, travel insurance cover can help bring your remains home without bankrupting your relatives or further traumatising them in what is already a very difficult time.
If you die due to a sudden illness or injury while overseas we will pay for the reasonable cost (up to the benefit limit) for the following:
We also provide repatriation of remains for travellers who die from Coronavirus while travelling on all our plans, although benefit limits apply.
Most importantly, our 24 hour Emergency Medical Assistance Team will be able to keep your family informed and help them navigate the often difficult local regulations and administration required after your death.
This may include putting them in touch with consular officials, navigating and understanding local processes and helping access the services you need locally to transport your remains back home.
Cover is not available for costs that are not authorised by your insurer. They will review the circumstances of every claim and provide assistance and support wherever possible.
Deaths are the most heartbreaking cases to help with. No one is ready to deal with the sudden death of an immediate relative abroad, let alone having to deal with complex requirements and unexpected high costs. The 24/7 Emergency Assistance Team can coordinate a local burial or bring home loved ones with trusted partners on the ground and ensure that families and friends are supported through such a difficult time.
The policy isn’t designed to cover everything so take the time to read the terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions in the policy wording for full details, so there are no surprises if you need to use it. If you’re not sure if something is covered get in touch.
It’s essential that your family or travel buddy get in contact with our Emergency Medical Assistance team as soon as possible, so that we can support them from the time of your death until your remains have been returned home.
To help our Emergency Medical Assistance team assist them quickly, they'll need the following:
So, leave a copy of your policy with your family or friend, just in case they need to use it.
Overseas deaths are the most heartbreaking cases to help with. The World Nomads Emergency Assistance team can coordinate a local burial or bringing home loved ones with trusted partners on the ground, and ensure that families and friends are supported throughout such a difficult time.

You’ve made it… you’ve got your passport, baggage and are at the airport on-time and ready to head off. The only problem is your plane isn't going anywhere.
That’s where travel insurance for flight cancellation can give you a helping hand, covering some of your expenses until you can get on another flight.
If your flight is unexpectedly cancelled through no fault of your own, and the event that led to the disruption is an insured event, our policies offer cover for additional necessary and reasonable costs (up to the benefit limits) for:
You must be aware that before submitting a claim to us, you must claim a refund or compensation from the transportation provider first.
To make a claim you will need to be able to show proof of the flight cancellation from the carrier and keep all receipts, otherwise we will not be able to pay. Other items we won’t cover include:
This is only a summary of cover and does not include the full terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions of the policy. You should read your policy wording in full, so you understand what is and isn’t covered. If you are unsure about your level of travel cover, please contact us for help.
I had a flight from Kosrae (Federated Stated of Micronesia) to Honolulu, Hawai. The flight was cancelled by United due to weather conditions (according to them their plane could not leave from Guam due to the Vanuatu cyclone). Therefore I had to spend one more night in Kosrae, paying for lunch, dinner and accommodation. The airline declined to pay for the hotel or other expenses as the cancellation was due to weather conditions.

Calm waters, crystal clear visibility and a bulletproof dive plan might make for the perfect underwater adventure, but accidents can happen, even to the most experienced divers. Whether you're learning or you’ve done hundreds of dives, World Nomads travel insurance can help take the pressure off you and your family when the unexpected sinks your next dive trip.
As passionate divers ourselves, we’ve designed our plans to cover dives from the Great Blue Hole to The Yongala and more.
You should note that travel insurance coverage for scuba diving varies between plans and once purchased, you can’t change your cover – that’s why it’s important to consider the kind of diving you plan to do on your trip and check the level of cover you’ll need before you choose your plan.
While cage diving in Hawaii or scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef may be number one on your ‘To Do list’, we know that things can go wrong from time to time. That’s why we’ll assist you with coverage if you become seriously ill or injured while diving and need urgent medical assistance. This includes:
If you’re in need of a medical evacuation, repatriation or if you’re admitted to hospital, you or someone with you must contact the 24/7 Emergency Assistance team immediately..
If you are wondering eho pays for medical treatment,(and by this we mean either you pay upfront and claim later, or we pay), it depends on what’s happened to you and the necessary treatment required.
Also be aware that any medical claim or sporting equipment claim submitted will have a policy excess deducted per person, per claimable event.

Travel insurance doesn’t cover everything. All of the information we provide is a brief summary. It does not include all terms, conditions, limitations, exclusions and termination provisions of the plans described. Our policies can cover skiing and snowboarding accidents overseas. There’s cover for emergency medical expenses, evacuation and repatriation back home.
It’s important that you select the snow sports activities you intend to do when purchasing your policy. If you don’t declare the snow sports activities you intend to do, you may not be covered if you suffer an accident on the slopes. Restrictions apply to certain winter sport activities, so be aware of this so you’re covered if something goes wrong.

Food poisoning definitely isn’t on the menu for most of our travelers… but then again neither is Coronavirus (COVID-19), scooter accidents, brain aneurysms or shark bites.
We’ve seen all of these and more in our claims department at World Nomads and that’s why we think you’d have to be mad to travel anywhere overseas without Medical Travel Insurance.
If you’re accidentally injured or suddenly get ill while traveling, our 24/7 Emergency Assistance team is on hand to help you. Our coverage includes:
We can provide support in accessing medical facilities overseas, assist you with paying your bills, getting medical transport, and finding the right medical facility to treat your injury/illness.
As COVID-19 travel restrictions across the world continually change day by day, we understand that travelers want to start to plan for their future travel, and we’re here to support them in doing so. So we’ve added some coverage for COVID-19-related events on both our Standard and Explorer Plans; benefits and limits vary.
If you are diagnosed with COVID-19 while overseas, your benefits may include:
If you have purchased the Explorer Plan, you may have some coverage for trip cancellation events which are outside of your control and caused by:
Our article ‘What’s Covered for Coronavirus’ explains the benefits available if you get COVID-19 and need urgent assistance.
