When planning a trip to the UK, the most common obstacles U.S. travelers encounter are lost or delayed luggage, and unexpected illnesses or accidents, including Covid-19-related issues.
Imagine after that long transatlantic flight to London, you don’t see your baggage on the carousel at Heathrow airport. Or your golf clubs get stolen from the hotel lobby as you sip your English Breakfast tea. This is why baggage insurance is so important.
World Nomads may offer coverage (up to the policy limits) for loss, theft or damage to baggage or personal items depending on your specific situation. Here’s more:
Travel insurance tip 1: always keep your valuables close. Try and carry your valuables, travel documents, cash and credit cards with you at all times. Remember that if you buy anything, before or during your trip, to keep all receipts.
When traveling to the UK, medical insurance is very important as most private healthcare plans aren’t accepted abroad. If you get ill or are injured, you could be reimbursed for your out of pocket medical care, or an emergency visit to a dentist, or even worse, have to be transported back to the U.S.
Regarding Covid-19, it’s important that you follow any government mandates while in the UK. It’s always a good idea to wear a face mask when visiting busy tourist hotspots or on public transportation.
World Nomads’ travel plans for U.S. residents may provide coverage for specified benefits if you test positive for COVID-19. These benefits may include emergency medical, emergency medical evacuation, trip delay and trip interruption coverage if you contract COVID-19 while traveling.
You may also be eligible for trip cancellation coverage up to the policy limits for pre-paid and non-refundable travel costs such as flights, hotels stays and tours covered by your plan as part of your covered trip, if after you purchase your plan, your medical provider advises you that you are unable to travel on your scheduled departure date due to being diagnosed with COVID-19.
Travel insurance tip 2: many countries may require proof of vaccination before can enter, and some have introduced visas and travel insurance minimum requirements. Make sure you’ve got the required proof of any vaccinations so you can present them while traveling overseas.
IMPORTANT: For a claim to be covered due to a Positive Covid test, you or your traveling companion must test positive by one of the approved methods to confirm the positive test. These are:
lab,
Teladoc/telehealth, or
doctor’s office.
An ‘official’ (lab administered) positive test is required when filing a claim under Trip Interruption/Trip Delay due to COVID. You must have tested positive via verifiable results - this means lab-based results which include your name and the date of the test.
